1) Play ONLY the $5 machines, they say they give the best odds in Vegas.

2) Always play "Max Bet". That means each hand will cost $25

3) Always go for the Royal Flush, that's where the big money is, throw away everything else. Eg; the first round gives you AcAdAhAsKs. WOW!!! THATS QUADS!!
No big deal, it's trash, the machine and the RNG are teasing you. Throw away the other three Aces and hold the AsKs and draw for the big one!!

It's hard to stomach what this forum has become wacko.gif

For what it's worth, Johnny's advice is exactly what I've picked up from talking to people who play way too much video poker.

And, for what it's worth, I appreciate that Johnny would reply. That spirit what has kept UPF on my bookmark, long since it passed it's "first place to check" status for me. Thanks.

Personally, I'd never ditch Quads - on *ANYTHING. It was meant as a joke.

Yet, thanks for the kudos.

Point being, this used to be a great source of info, back in the day. You can see by my 'joined' date, I've been around a while, not as long as others, but a while. Back then, we talked Poker - Hold 'em, 7card, Omaha, etc.

Live, net, ring, tourney, SnGs, etc.

I learned a lot here. And, hopefully, gave out some decent advice.

Now it seems there are more post about selling stolen Credit Card info and spam (I don't believe the site is monitored anymore) than Poker. Shame really. Oh well, time only moves in one direction!

VIDEO Poker?? Ever heard the expression "Crack Cocaine" of Gambling? Not even in the same ballpark as "Poker" for my own taste. It's a slot, pure and simple. Run by an RNG (Random Number Generator). Sure, sure, there's a ton of books and stuff on the net about how to beat 'em and maybe some of it even 'works'. Don't know, don't really care.

Only 'real' advice I can give is this. Put your money in (the $5 slots, if you can afford it, really do offer superior odds in Vegas according to "Gambling Times", a monthly info mag that studies such things) and take whatever the machine gives you. IOW - you hit a pair of jacks, you keep 'em. The 'draws' you want are either towards flushes and especially straight flushes.

Stick with the 'simplistic' versions (machines) like "Jacks or Better". Play it for "Max Bet" only. Really, I used to hang out with a guy who was a programmer for Bally's (who invented and owned the slots all over, Bally's, not the guy) and the only thing he ever told me about Video Poker was if the thing kept offering you three cards or more to a straight flush (esp. a Royal), it was going to hit pretty soon. Yet, that was years ago, I'm not sure if that would hold true anymore.

Remember, the one thing about Vegas (or any casino) is this. The only thing there that the 'house' does in your favor is............
