So I understand how to calculate hand odds and pot odds. What I'm not sure of is how to convert one to the other, since one is a percentage and one is a x to x.

i.e. If pot odds are 10 to 1 and the chance of making your card on the turn is 15%, how do you compare them? Is 10 to 1 odds equivalent to 1/10(10%) or is there some other conversion method? And is there a way to quickly convert a percentage odds to a x to x odds?

Thanks!

The Odds are the ratio of pecents for and against. eg. If your percent chance of winning is 20% then the odds against you are 80% to 20%, ie. 4 to 1. If there are 4 chips in the pot for every 1 you have to call, then you are getting pot odds.

You can double check your understanding by looking at what happens after you call. Once you call the 1 chip there are now 5 chips in the pot. You have a 20% chance of winning that pot. So after calling your equity in the pot is 20% of 5 chips = 1 chip, exactly your investment. It's thus a fair gamble for you to call.

Go over this in your mind 10 or 20 times until it's clear. Once you learn it you never have to learn it again.
