| NL 1/2 OK I am dealt Kd, Qd, 10c, 8c in the BB, 5 limpers to me (including SB) so I check... flop brings Ad Jd 9c SB bets out $10, I call, two more callers, then the button decides to go all in for $120, SB calls, I call, player behind me calls so the pot is in excess of $550. I bet the pro's are probably shaking their heads right about now reading this. I realize this is a draw, but any high card (non-pairing) will prolly scoop me the pot. I count 21 NUT outs.... 8 diamonds (i discount the 9d), 3 kings, 3 queens, 2 10s, 2 8s, or 3 7s also discounting the longshot runner runner club draw.... I'd be interested to see what experienced players think about calling this all in bet with just a draw | ||

| This is probably why I don't like NL - I'd like this hand in Limit, but I'm not wanting to risk my money on a non-hand like this. First of all, let's talk about the other guy - seems to me that he's got AA23 or some combination like that - he's got the current nuts, draws to low (granted a long shot - but you can't have a low) and draws to a better NUT on high. What you've got is a draw to a few nut hands that can be counterfeited in a number of ways. If instead of AA23, the guy has AAKQ, just look at what you've got now - a draw to a nut hand that is splitting. Of course, he may not have it, which is where the NL play comes in. He pushes all in, so what can you do. In my opinion, drawing to the straight flush is about all you can count on as the nut without a split. I'd have a hard time folding, but in this situation, I'd have a hard time with it. | ||

| You don't have as many outs as you think. There is a high probability that the player who went all-in is on a straight draw as well. If that's the case, an 8 or a King could bring a split pot. If I'm first to go all-in, I like the bet... sort of a semi-bluff thing going on. But calling an all-in here is iffy. If you could be guaranteed the full pot if you hit the straight, it would seem like a good bet statistically. (more than half of the pot is other players money and you have almost a 50/50 shot of hitting the nut hand). Any thoughts? | ||

| You're a favorite to win the pot over a set that doesn't have a redraw. I put my money in there in a heartbeat. When your draw is that strong, folding is definately not the play. Lee | ||
