I have a ???

this is purely hypothetical... say your use to 2/4 NL with a max pot of say 100.

This hand comes up... you have A Qs on the button and raise you get three callers and flop comes down Js 10s 9d

Ok once again I know this is not likely but say the pot gets up in excess of 4,000 between you and three other players, turn is a brick... and a guy push's in for his last 1,000. Your going to get laid 5:1 if you call this bet and hit.

Here is my question, you have the odds to call, BUT you how does the level of stakes calculate into this... b/c your use to calling a bet of $50 bucks at most...

If anyone understands what Im asking and can put it simpler... please help... lolol..

I know pot odds are designed to pay off, in the long run, and this situation there is no long run.... its a ONE time deal.

If you are a winning player with a small bankroll, you would want to pass on the call despite getting correct pot odds IF calling and losing will increase your risk of ruin to a level which would make it likely that you would be out of action.

In an extreme example: let's say I have a BR of $50,000 and earn an average of $100,000/yr off of that bankroll playing $30/60. Let's suggest that someone offers me a wager in which they will bet me $1,000,000 against my $50,000 on a 10:1 shot. While I am getting odds to call, I will decline the bet because 90% of the time I shall lose and be out of action which will mean I cannot make pos EV bets anymore. If I do not take the bet, I shall eventually win $1,000,000 but it shall be $60 at a time - but if I live long enough I shall make it 100% of the time with zero (not really but close enough) risk of ruin.

Hope that's what you were asking and that this helps.

You hit the nail on the head, and thats what I thought too.

I had thought that the odds are you are going to lose that pot, and you must be able to count on a pot being that high numerous times to get a fair shake at coming out on top.

thnx angel
