| I'm a novice to poker! My girl friend and I drove to Las Vegas Christmas eve from Salt Lake City. Two hours from Las Vegas, we swerved to avoid a huge dead animal, clipped the right fender, at least one 360, and ended up in the ditch. It was a miracle we both survived, and did not hurt other people that also hit this thing and were parked to the side of the road. We played only at El Cortez and Excalibur. At El Cortez, were were both honored to have played with "Jackie", owner of El Cortez, the nicest, friendliest man I have ever met. My girl friend asked if she could have a picture taken with him, he said yes right away called security and had them bring over several piles of 100s for my girlfriend to hold while I took the picture. That same night after Jackie left, we had this most vulgar, obnoxious woman at the table. She would group men beside her, insult elderly Asian men when their English was poor, called an elderly man "bastard*" after loosing to him; just an awful, sad human being. The more she drank, the worst it got. At one point it was her turn to act, and she appeared to bee falling asleep, she slowly let her head touch the table. My girl friend was the only person to ask her if she was alright, I then got up and ran over to her side to help her up, she then started to complain about chest pains. Another regular woman player, whom we later found out was a surgeon {nickname was Doc} rushed over and had paramedics respond; she apparently had a minor stroke. That same night I had the pleasure of playing against this young man {another El Cortez regular}, every word out of his mouth was Sir, Madam, thank you; one of the most politest young man I have ever came across. My first poker BandM experience in Las Vegas! | ||

| Hey, other then the wacko woman, it seems like you had a fun trip. Im lucky, I live in Memphis... We have some Awesome Poker rooms 45 min away from us. The Grand's room is Huge and the Horseshoe is great... Anyway, hope your car damage isnt too bad, have a good one! | ||

| Hi, No, just the bumper needs to be replaced. Thank God it wasn't our time yet. I'm just amazed at the people at a poker table; you see the best and worst of people. At one point when she insulted this one old Asian man because he didn't speak English well, I asked her why she was so rude, this made things worst. | ||

| why would you ever play at the El Cortez? there are more than a dozen very nice poker rooms in Las Vegas, with many more tables, variety of games and limits, etc. please come back and try The Mirage, Bellagio, The Orleans, or any of the Stations poker rooms. you will notice quite a difference. kennycatkiller | ||
