High hand Stud tourney at Pokerstars. I'll vent these suckouts to feel better. I was dealt J K with A showing. I raise with an ace, four called. I then got another ace, double bet it, all called. I had a queen show up next. Same routine. Fifth street, I got another queen to make two pair. I bet, three called, one folded. Sixth street, rag. I know I'm ahead so I bet again, one called, two folded. Seventh is another rag. I bet, I got raised, which I called. I showed the King kicker to my visible two pair. However, my opponent showed 2c 9c 4c 10h Ks Jc 5c! They caught the miracle runner runner. Out of curiosity, I asked her why call when drawing slim(10%underdog at fifth, 22%underdog at sixth, though I didn't divulge that info). Her answer was that she felt lucky(???), she could afford it, and that she didn't want to just give up a decent pot to a short stack. Surprisingly, I didn't tilt too much from that beat. After the five minute break I was dealt A K A. I eventually went all in with that and caught a King at sixth. However, the other player heads up caught running sixes at 5th, 6th, and 7th! After that happened, four players immediately gave me the "good player, you just got horribly unlucky" speech. Guess I can't complain too much, it took luck to bust my hands.

Actually, your river play was wretched. No one is going to call your bet unless they can beat your two pair. It doesn't matter if your hand is best, it only matters if you can get a worse hand to call. Why are you betting?

Actually, the person I was heads up with would have called down regardless of whether or not that club hit. She would have done so because she had a bigger stack. What I've found is that bigger stacks will play sherrif to smaller ones regardless of what heat the small one is packing. I could have checked on the river to save a bet or two but it really would not have mattered since all it would done was give me a bigger stack had I won with my last stand hand. What got me was that I got called down while visibly showing the best hand just because someone felt lucky. If you feel that lucky, buy a lottery ticket. The Powerball jackpot is over 100 mill if I'm not mistaken. It sucks, but I'm over it now and back to the game.
