| I am in a satellite in the New Orleans Harrahs 4 handed. I am dealt QQ on the button. Every time I had a hand, if I raised more than 2 times the blind (which was at 100 tourney chips) everyone would raise. I was unable to make any ground on AA and KK b/c I raised 3x the blind. I was in the chip lead by about 1500. I raise twice the blind, SB calls, BB calls, 4th player folds. A little of the table texture. SB had played a few hands, would regularly after a raised pot go all in to steal the blinds and the raises. Three hands before he tried this w/ Q-9o, got lucky and got the str8 on the river to crack flopped 2 pair. BB was a fairly tight player and when she raised she always raised all in. Flop comes 3-8-9 rainbow. SB goes all in, BB calls who has SB covered by 200. To call would still leave me 1500TC if I lost. I had the overpair. I called. SB had 3-7d, BB had 8-8. Turn and river comes Runner Runner diamond (including a Q). SB wins pot. This pot basically determined the tourney. It gave the SB a chip lead I was never able to overcome when it got down to me and him. | ||

| When you are an overstack like that, you can afford to take a chance. I would normally tell you that when one player goes all in and another player calls, you need more than an overpair to play. Depending on the payouts and the exact stack sizes of you, your opponents, and the other players at the table and at other tables, I could see a fold there being reasonable, but I'd say that under most circumstances that is a good call. | ||
