| Thursday, December 18, 2003 We had a decent turnout for the Omaha tourney. As Christmas approaches, some games have been slacking off a bit, but the Omaha tourney was pretty strong. Four full tables. I was off and running in the limit portion of the tourney. I don't think I really played a hand during the first level, but in the second and third levels, I was dealt more than my fair share of quality starting hands, which actually held up! I counted 3 nut/nut wins within about 15 minutes. I built my stack from 100 in chips to over 700 in chips before we even got to no-limit. I never had to do a rebuy. The add-on boosted me up to over 1200. Naturally, after the break, I lost a ton of chips, never making a hand. LOL, isn't that the way it always goes? When our table broke, I was down to about 700. I drew the "final" table. Once again, I started hitting pretty well. I would frequently go all-in, as the participants at this table were less likely to call. I built up about 3500 in chips. Glenn made it to about 12th, then got bumped out at table II. I think I made one big error. I called an all-in with TJQK, double suited. Maybe a good hand to GO all-in, but not such a great hand to CALL all-in! Bah! Naturally, the flop came all low, and the all-in had AAxx, low. Once we got to the final table, we were all in the money. Naturally, I'm going for the gold, as the top places pay heavily. I frequently went all-in, and kept my head above water. Player after player got bumped out, but I stuck in there. Finally it was down to five. I had an awesome hand, AA2Q, I believe, and suited. Only one player called. He is very loose and had previously made a comeback from two black chips, to chip leader. He had an all-high hand, so naturally the straight came for him, no low, and IGHN. 5th place, but I only got $122, being that the tourney pays out heavily in the top three. I regret calling that all-in with TJQK, as that was probably my worst mistake. I am no Omaha pro, that is for sure, but I am usually pretty good at tournaments, no matter what the game. I took a lot of chances in this tourney, and most of them worked out for me, but the all-in CALL was pretty bad. Our NLHE game didn't get going tonight. I wonder if we'll see it often in the future. I can hope so. For now, I need to dig into Ray Zee's Omaha 8 book, lol! Play well! Felicia :) | ||
