$20+2 Party Poker Multi-table tournament. My cards have been horible but when I raised I always had great cards. My opponent (in this hand) has raised approx. 12 out of the last 15 to 16 hands and has shown 7 to 8 of them and has had nothing...including re-raising my EP raise once and then showed me Q7o after I folded my J's.

This hand. I have approx. $6850 in chips and he has $6220 or so just short of me. I'm UTG and he is the button. Blinds are $150/300.

I pick up AKs (spades.) I open for $1150, everyone folds to him and he doubles that and I take up to $3800...he goes all in and I call.

We both flopped two pair - AK...he just happened to hit perfect running diamonds to leave me $30 after I paid the blinds that went up on the next hand...lucky me. I hang around to 29th place to get my buy-in back after 2.5 hours of play...whopee!

Question...Is AKs enough of a hand to make this kind of play from UTG against a maniac bluffer?

Yes it is, especially in a SNG

Also I cannot remember where I read this but some pro's actually prefer AK unsuited
