Basic Question on Order of Betting, Daniel, 24. Dec 2003 21:49

I realized I'm actually unsure as to the order of betting in hold 'em. Is it always that the person right behind the big blind is the first to bet in each round or that the last person to call in a round is the first to bet in the next round (except for pre-flop, in which case it's clearly the person behind the BB).

Thanks

Pre-Flop the betting begins with the player to the left of the big blind, commonly called as Under the Gun or (UTG). The betting ends with the Big blind.

Post flop rounds begin with the small blind, or whomever is the clostest to the button on the left, regardless of who raises or calls.

maybe an easier way to remember it, Easy E, 26. Dec 2003 09:54

the person directly to the left of the button ALWAYS goes first. By rule, during preflop action, the players in the SB and BB were "forced" to put bets in before seeing their cards, therefore "going" first as expected.

... or maybe not easier?
