FAMILY GUY and Poker, 99questions, 24. Dec 2003 08:20

I'm a really big FAMILY GUY fan, if you don't know what I'm talking about then you REALLY need to know. I was watching an episode entitled "Screwed the pooch", which is in Volume 2 of the DVD set, and in the peticular episode, Peter, who is the main character like Homer in The Simpsons, plays cards with his buddies. The poker scenes in this episode are hilarious especially when Peter shows his poker "face" to his buddies and how he finds Ted Turner's tell to take his money, if you haven't seen this episode or this show at all, I highly suggest you should! But as I was watching the episode and it's references to poker, I noticed that the family's youngest son is named "Stuie". I came to the conclusion that maybe someone behind Family Guy is a poker follower and named one of the characters after the late great Stu Ungar, maybe? I just thought this would be a fun message to post especially with the newly widespread popularity of Poker and Family Guy!

I loooove family guy as well! I have both DVD collections, and wait in eager anticipation for the 2 hr family guy "movie" that is purported to be in the works.

Yeah "Screwed the Pooch" was a fun episode. Interesting thought about Stewie, but I doubt he was named after Ungar, as the spellings are different, and this episode was written before the recent poker "explosion". But if he was, indeed, the inspiration than awesome! Poker and Family Guy are two of my most favourite things!

Now I have even MORE reason to get Vol2 on DVD.

I got vol 1 as a gift when my best friend found out I was going to be a Dad. "Family Guy" - of course.
