sit-n-go beginner's luck?, pat_henry, 22. Dec 2003 15:09

Newbie here.

I have a question regarding sit-n-gos success. I've played a number of $5 to $10 sit-n-gos -- about 75 heads up and an equal number single table. It seems that for each type of tourney I've played, I started rather well. For example, I won over 60% of my first 40 heads up. Then, I went on a much dryer spell, winning less than 40% over next 35. Likewise, I started well over 40% in the money in NL/L single tables, but have dipped down to about break even. I know these sample sizes are VERY small -- but since I never played play money tourneys or anything, my success early in tourneys seemed fortunate. I know I need to more closely examine each of my tourneys in detail to see where I go wrong. It's just weird that I started so well in each new tourney type I played. Maybe I was more cautios cause it was new to me.

Anyone else start this way? Tips to get back on track?

By the way, I just started playing Omaha8 a couple weeks ago and played my first $10 SNGs at Party today. First one I finished 2nd, and second one I won. Here we go again! LOL

Thanks,
Ty

Well you obviously are a complete noob if you are just breaking even at Party sitngos.

I've heard (from very reliable sources) that your face to face game is weak too, in particular at $10 buy-in NL Hold'Em. Your dogs are more of a threat around the table than you are.

LOL! I thought that comment seemed a little rude... but then I caught the name. Wherever you are playing, Tex, I'll be there hidden in the shadows looking over your shoulder, watching your table, learning from the master. Have a great week with your folks in town and look forward to January's home game.
