| I like your raise with this one. Even though you're not suited, A-A-2-4 is a pretty strong hand. On the flop, It's not the best that you could have hoped for because you had no draw to the high straight, but leading at it isn't that bad because you may have the best hand. (not likely though), or you may be able to lose some of the players who are also sitting there with runner-runner low draws or hands that they might make two pair with. When you got raised and decided to peel a card off, keep in mind, if you happen to hit your Ace on the turn, it could also give someone else the nut straight. Now, when the turn card brings a low card, you are basically looking at the nut low draw because I wouldn't put too much stock in my pair of Aces. The turn probably connected one of them with the straight. On the river, for only bet more, I would have called as well. I don't think trip Aces is going to take the high here, but your 2nd nut low might, for the reason that it did come runner-runner. (you got a little trapped with this one). Also, keep player notes, as they will be helpful to you. Jot down what the big blind called 2 bets cold with on the flop, and also that the LP player called your raise preflop with 9-9-K-10. (that is an awful hand to cold call a raise with. Actually, it's an awful hand, period!). Keep revising your notes if and when needed. And pay no mind to the trashy hands that the others may enter the pot with - you play good and the chips will come. The game can be frustrating at times, but hang in there, Eman and keep posting your hands. Experience should help you to like the game for all it is worth :) 4P- | ||

| Eman I think you played the hand pretty well. You got quite unlucky the way the cards fell actually! Take a look at the hands your opponents are showing down here....WOW!!!! I may have lost an extra bet on the river depending on whether a flush got home (you didn't mention suits) since you made top set and second nut low. I know there are 2 different straight possibilities out there but given the flop action your opponents will often have made high hands (2 pair....sets etc). Either way, you aren't likely to be scooped on the river in a 3 way pot very often with your hand. Good game you found for yourself. Just my thoughts. GRANT PITTMAN | ||

| Hi Grant, I don't think that I would have raised the river and here's why. On the flop, the BB checks and then calls 2 bets cold. On the turn, he check calls again. But now on the river he leads at it. With a flop of Q-J-X, and the Ace coming on the river, he more than likely has either the low side, or the high side. I would lean towards putting him on the nut straight just because of the high cards that were on the flop and that he called 2 bets cold there, as well. If he just has the nut low but the other player has the straight, then he's going to lose more bets. (and I think I would take into account that there may be some more weird stuff being turned up in loose low limit games, too). But I would definitely call a bet there, no question. I also couldn't believe that he turned over the 2-3! But ya gotta love it though :-) 4P- | ||

| Good point 4poker.....I would still find it difficult to believe I was beat in both spots but I agree that the blind is more likely to have the straight than the nut low!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL GRANT PITTMAN | ||
