| I'm playing at a great 2/4 half kill omaha 8 table but haven't been able to pick up much and I've dropped about 85. There's a real live one who sees every flop 3 seats down from me who likes to bluff a lot. These 2 hands turned it around for me and put me slightly on the plus side, let me know what you think. The first hand, the half kill is in effect so it's playing 3/6. I'm in the big blind with As 3s 7d Kd. An early player raises, the kill blind and the live one both call, and I call for an extra 4. Should I have mucked or is this worth seeing a flop? Flop comes out Ah Ks Ts giving me top 2 pair and the nut flush draw. Not wanting to give out a free card for a backdoor low, I bet out. Everyone calls, so I figured I wasn't up against QJ, although a set is a possibility. The turn is an offsuit 2, giving me a bad low draw. I bet out again and get 2 callers, one being the live one. The river is an offsuit 4, missing my full house and flush draw, but giving me a bad low. I check, the next player checks, and the live one bets. I call figuring there's a decent chance I'm winning at least one way, and the next player calls. The live one was on a total bluff and I win both ways. The next hand was 2 hands later and I'm on the button with Ad 2d 6s 8d. It's also a half kill with the live one being the kill blind. It's folded to him, he checks, and there are 2 more callers in between us. I raise, the big blind, the live one, and both limpers call. I raised in this spot because they had a tendency to check to the raiser without the current nuts, and I figured the free card might be nice. It turns out that I saw a favorable flop of 8h Th 6c, giving me bottom 2 pair and the nut low draw. Checked to me and I bet, everyone calls. The turn is a very nice 8s filling me up and pretty much letting the hand play itself the rest of the way. I bet, only one fold. The river is a 6d, checked to me, I bet, scoop it all up. Thanks in advance. Lee | ||

| On the A37K doublesuited hand, I think it would be a big mistake to not see the flop in a multiway pot - this type of hand can take down some big pots, as it can make a big flush, or the nut low with a 2 on the board. I'm not folding this hand, unless its a situation such as a good player raising and another one cold calling or reraising, without any loose players in the pot. Too much high potential to go with the low potential. I may have tried for a checkraise on the flop. Obviously eliminating backdoor low draws is a good thing for your hand, as it may allow you to squeak out a low with your 37. If you feel betting out is most likely way to narrow the field, then that is fine. However, I may try to checkraise if the late position players are very aggressive, as they would probably bet if it was checked to them. One thing to consider is that a flop containing an ace is hardly ever checked around (someone will have aces up, or enough of a draw to bet). Even if the player to your left bets and everyone calls, checkraising is still fine, as you have top two and the nut flush draw (now you're raising to build a bigger pot, getting a good price on your draws). No comments on the second hand - you played it just as I would have. Mark | ||
