For some reason it won't let me reply on the thread...

OK, that helps. Again, it depends on the payout structure, how concentrated the money is at the top. If #30-60 all get paid about the same, and you really have to make the final table to get a significant payoff, then you do want to take some chances to try build your stack high enough to have a shot at the real money. If you fail and bust out at 60 instead of 30, no great loss to you, the $$ is about the same. But still, pick your spots--don't commit your entire stack on a bluff unless you're sure it will work.

But if it's a "wider" payout structure, where the money isn't as concentrated in the top few spots, then it may be in your interest to play tighter and wait for premium cards to play--just sit back and watch the other players knock each other out, increasing your payday. I know you're worried about the blinds eating you up, but if you really have an average stack of 5000-7000 and blinds are 330/600, then you have a reasonable cushion. If you didn't play a single hand, you could last through 50-70 hands! So even if e1 else is playing their tightest game (which they won't be), your medium stack will outlast half the field, increasing your payday with zero risk. And if you do catch some premium cards and win some pots, you'll still have a shot at the big money.

That's what i'd do. On the other hand, i'm a newbie, so maybe you should get a second opinion!
