| Ive posted several times recently about my losing streak that has lasted 2 months or so. Ive only been losing at limit Holdem. Ive continued to win at NL cash games and SNG's along with Stud Hi/Low which I just started playing. After winning consistently for months, I cant seem to win to save my life. Here are some stats from my recent streak. My last 5 sessions Ive won : 2 out 111 hands 4 out of 84 hands 6 out of 90 hands 3 out of 55 hands 5 out of 92 hands The last 42 times I flopped a 4 flush I hit the flush 3 times The last 18 times I flopped an open ended straight I hit it 2 times I only started keeping track of the flush and straight stats because it seemed like I was never hitting, so in other words I missed many more times before I started keeping track. Now I know Im not as good as some players on this site, but I believe Im better than alot of players at $2/$4 and below. Also, I know that alot of expert players would probably lose less than me during a bad streak because they may squeeze an extra bet from someone on a winning hand, BUT I cant believe that ANYONE could win during a streak like this. I mean 4 out of 42 times hitting a 4 flush? That is gonna drain anyone. I posted last week that I was quitting limit holdem mainly because this streak had taken the fun out it for me (escpecially when I continue to clean up in SNG's). Ive played one time since then and only because I opened an account at UB and want to get attempt to play out of the streak while getting my bonus dollars. The 5 out of 92 hands won that I posted was my first session at UB today. I got AA, KK and QQ back to back to back. The AA and QQ I raised before the flop and got one caller each time. Both times the opponent folded to my flop bet so I won small pots. With KK, I flopped a set of kings and a guy called to the river and hit his gutshot. So out of those 3 premium hands, I lost money. Now I know that "thats poker", but its happening over and over and over. Does anyone disagree that NOBODY can win during a streak like this? | ||

| Sometimes the cards say that you aren't going to win no matter what you do. Just think about making good decisions and let the money take care of itself. Don't worry if you come out behind for the day, or the week, just check the bottom line every month or two. If you concentrate on good decisions, you'll surely find that you've come out ahead in the big picture. Just do your best to weather the storm iceman. Good luck. Lee | ||

| I play on PokerStars, not Party. I tried Party once and hated their graphics. This was during my bad streak and if I remember correctly, I won 3 hands out of about 90 or so. I broke about even because the couple pots I won were big and the other ones were mainly fold fold fold because I got lousy cards. I disliked the graphics enough that I cashed out right away. I ve gotten out drawn a million times and the many times Ive had a good draw, Ive missed almost every time. If my luck doesnt change by the time I earn my bonus dollars at UB, I'll just stick to NL for a long while until I can mentally start from scratch playing limit. | ||

| Iceman Your luck may not be that bad. Newbie observations. Assume you are playing limit in a ten handed game. You play every hand to the showdown. In a ten handed game, you would expect to win 10% of the games with average luck. You would leave the table with less money than you arrived with by playing this strategy but you would win one out of 10 hands (average luck). If you play the tight game recommended by the experts, you will play only 20% of hands (approximately, your mileage will vary). My observation is that your average win rate drops to around 5% of hands by playing a tight game. You fold some winners preflop. This is my target win rate for limit. If you are playing low limit poker, your win rate depends on your cards 99% of the time. What you can control in limit poker is how much money you actually win. If you look at the sessions you listed and compare to the above analysis. Hands Won - Total Hands - 5% hands - Evaluation 2 - 111 - 5 - Less than average 4 - 84 - 4 - Average 6 - 90 - 4-5 - Better than average 3 - 55 - 3 - Average 5 - 92 - 4-5 - Average Your luck is about average based on the sessions above. The one below average session was very poor but you are running around average to slightly below average overall for this very minimal number of hands. My experience with NL is that the 5% win rate goes up and you can get more money into the pot for the few hands you win. You can play tight and win big in NL. In low limit, if you play too many hands, you cannot win enough on the 5% you play to come out ahead. This analysis is based purely on hands won. It does not take into account the quality of the pots won. You can win a lot of small pots. Your win rate is high but money is low. Anyone have any comments. I have a lot to learn, so feel free to shoot this theory full holes. Ron | ||

| I have an interesting losing streak going on right now, I have a losing streak to a specific player, since i play mainly with the same people all the time I see him alot, When it's come down to an all in decision in which at least he and I were both involved in I have lost the past 12 times with far, far, far superior starting hands. Its the kind of crap that makes the game piss you off. | ||
