| Ok, here's another hand from the 2-6 spread game at Excalibur. First, some background: It's the same session as the "quasi ethical dilemma" post. I'm in seat 5, I've got Missouri to my left, two solid players to my right, 2 tourists to my right, a tourist next to Missouri, a solid player, my wife and a solid player in seat 10. I am UTG +1. Prior to this hand, the table had had one of those wacky streaks where the same cards keep coming up and keep winning. One of those statistical oddities. I noticed that 3s keep winning pots. In two hands, a pair of threes was the best hand (played in a hand like A3o) or 3s on board with an A kicker winning the hand. Missouri won one of those with 32o with a flop of 3-2-3. So I'm cracking jokes and saying that 3s are wild. Seriously, about 4 of 5 hands in a row are won with a 3 involved. You can guess what's coming. I look down and see a pair of 3s. Usually, I throw this hand away, especially in this position. But 3s are wild! (Don't lecture me on the odds of poker and the fact that all things are random blah blah blah. I know. But Doyle says play the rush because they happen.) So I limped in. Missouri Smokestack to my left raises it, making it 8 to go. ($2 blind, max raise of $6.) 4 or 5 callers back to me. I think about it, decide I am making a contribution to the pot and call. Mistake? Probably. But there was a ton of money out there at this point for $6. Anyway, the flop comes A-2-3, with 2 suits. A little scary, but not much. I have a set. It's checked to me and I bet out. I forget the turn and river, but they were not scary cards, like a 9 and a Q, maybe. No flush. I bet it to the river. Lots of callers. Now I've got to show. I turn to the solid players on my right and say "you're gonna love this." Flop over the 2 threes and they start cracking up. Missouri shows AK suited and looks pissed! Melissa's line: "Tight and aggressive, huh?" I rake in the pot and say, "I couldn't not play them! I'll laugh about that the whole way to Pittsburgh." And I did. Every half hour or so on the flight home, Melissa would say "what are you laughing about?" "The threes! Those threes!!!" Just a story I wanted to share. | ||

| Dude I swear 3's are freaking awesome. I've FLOPPED QUADS three times since I've been playing hold'em for about 6 months and twice it was with 3's. I honestly seem to hit sets with them more often. I don't let this totally change up my play and make me go crazy with them but 3's rock! | ||

| That is the reason I freakin hate 3's. Someone used them on me and got runner runner runner to my 3 Jacks. However, when I get them, someone will get better, even when I have trip 3's. Lady luck gives me the finger with that cursed pocket. | ||

| Actually, yesterday I was playing NLH and was down about 70% of my small buy in (i got choked earlyu with many runner runner and river hands) Anyway..I went all in with pocket 3's on a semi bluff. I got 5 callers. Yea..lose game..I flopped quad 3's and booyah....back up Funny that you guys mention this. | ||
