I am a new player myself, so I'm sure most of you already know this but... in the later stages of a SnG, with 3-4 people left, make sure that if you are going to play a hand from anywhere but the big blind (and sometimes there too) RAISE with it. If you don't, you will let the BB get a free flop and it will kill you. I often win this way, by people letting me check some trash in the big blind that brings 2 pair or better on the flop...

Just a thought.

I'll take it a step farther. NEVER open limp after the first couple of rounds in a tournament. I can think of very few situations where this is a good idea. SNG or full tourney. Bubble or not. There's just too good a chance you will win the blinds by raising in a tourney where everyone plays quite a bit tighter. Anytime the blinds represent a good percentage of your stack, you should open raise and be happy to win just the blinds. If you think your hand isn't good enough to warrant a raise, you should be folding. You may limp after limpers, even cold call raises, but don't open limp. It's soooo weak.

I agree. On the other hand, I have noticed that the first two rounds often play like limit HE if there is no very aggressive player in the game (with many people only calling the BB or putting in only 1 10-chip raise), and the limits are so pitifully small at that point that it often pays to limp in late position with marginal hands (KXs, QXs, etc - not BAD hands) that can get you a lot of chips early with a tiny (10 chip) investment and the right flop. Of course you have to fold it if you don't get an excellent flop.
