After watching my tape of the 2002 WSOP for the 5 billionth time (I seriously believe I could tell you how ever single hand played out, what cards fell when and what happened). I was finally able to say "hey thats the guy on UPF"... DUH!!!!!!, anyways, man that is a flat out awful beat, and the bad thing is he knew he was beat thats why he was so mad when he called. ( I am sure Im the 1,000,000th person to bring this up).

Ok, one of the more intresting hands I would like an opinion on from you Mark, or other of posters.

Deeb opens the pot for 20k, with K K UTG, bruno fittoussi (wow I murdered that last name) calles MP with J 10 of spades, Phil Ivey on the button with 77 also decides to call.

Should ivey have even called this? Im thinking no.

Anyways flop comes down 10 7 2... giving Bruno the top pair AND HE HAS THE WORST OF THE THREE!!!!!,

Deeb first to act checks, bruno bets, and phil raises, deeb decides to move all-in.

what would you have done in deebs place

Maybe I'm incorrect but I though Mark hit a K on the flop and was well ahead when he went all-in. The turn was an another K and the river brought the dreaded T.

It was a good play that didn't have such a good result.

this was in the 2003 WSOP and you guys are talking about two different hands.....

Flatout...you are talking about the hand where Mark was ahead with AK vs. the cop's pocket 10's, he hits another King on the turn to have 3 Kings but then the 10 comes on the river to make the cop a full house

Highflyin is talking about a totally different hand....funny thing is I think another player would have made trip deuces (can't remember who)
Deeb had a tough decision to make as that flop really makes him think he has the best hand, unless Ivey had of course a set of 10's or a set of 7's like he did, tough decision to make

Actually I was talking about the 2003 wsop hand, yes mark had AK, flop was K 3 4, you cant ask for a better flop, he goes all in for 29,600 (and this from memory) and the cop slams the call down, turn k river 10, thats when you just want to hit the guy for calling knowing he's losing, lol.

A couple comments on the Deeb/Ivey/Fitoussi hand:

- yes, Phil's call preflop with 77 isn't automatic. I'm not sure of his chip status here, but obviously he is hoping to flop a set and potentially win a huge pot - this is an implied odds type of call, plus the fact that he has position may allow him to pick up the pot if no one shows much interest after the flop. Phil likes to play a lot of hands, and put pressure on his opponents. This is a style that he plays very well, as his results indicate.

- Freddy has a tough hand to release after the flop, considering his opposition in the hand. Both Phil and Bruno are relentlessly aggressive, and neither of them needs to have anything close to KK beat to put chips in the pot. With this in mind, I have no problem with Freddy's decision to move all in here. KK figures to be good most of the time, and I think checking and folding to a raise with these two opponents is too weak of a play. Actually, I think the action went according to what he foresaw, but unfortunately for him Phil flopped a set.

I agree Mark. Deeb had to push in here hoping that he was agains AT or something like that. Laying down KK would have been really weak.

As far as Phil's call, he had last action and middle pair their as long as you have a reasonable stack is fine to call with as the implied odds if you hit your set are quite high.
