| Is there a book out there to help one on odds and stats? I have been going to different sites and getting little tidbits. I can also come here and get a basic understanding of them, but if I want to read while I am away from my computer a book solely on this subject would be a great benefit. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | ||

| Petriv's- "Hold em odd(s) book" is very good. Rather than just being about giving you a list of numbers however, he teaches you how do do the math - which then allows you to take the math to any game you want. | ||

| I bought Petriv's book and haven't gone through it really heavy cover to cover yet. I've skimmed most of it and read parts of it heavily. First of all, you need to know that the book is very dry. Mostly math. I bought the book hoping to get help on how to calculate odds on the fly, and while there is some of that, it is not really the focus of the book. So far most of the discussions surround figuring probabilities and situations that pretty much require a calculator. Certainly a great text to fully understand where the hardcore math behind the game comes from. By no means a walk-beginners-through-figuring-pot odds type of book. If you're a veteran, by all means, buy the book. With that said, I'm still in the process of reading the book and my tune could change...I may find it to be an incredible, life changing book for me a few months from now. Obviously I am a beginner, and I'm still trying to learn solid play theory. That is enough to fill my plate for another six months, and then maybe Petriv's odd's book will really benefit me. I hope I'm giving a fair opinion here...??? I'm terrified of someone saying "I'm a friend of Petriv and you're just a beginner, you don't know what you're talking about!!" So I hope I gave enough disclaimers on the relative worth of my opinion. | ||
