Trip Report: Laughlin, MozMan, 14. Dec 2003 21:18

I had a wonderful weekend in Laughlin, lotsa fun and some new experiences. Many thanx to FeliciaLee and her husband, Glenn, who were looking out for me, and helping me track down the best games in town. Those two are super people, and anyone who heads to Laughlin should try to track them down to say hi.

I stayed at the Belle. Nice place: clean, inexpensive, and friendly. The poker room there was really nice. It was intimate, (remember, I am used to the 50-table room at CAZ) and players were all super people, great to play with. Some very solid players, and others making the game profitable. :^) The dealers and floormen were fantastic, really made you feel welcome, and made efforts even to learn my name and treat me like a regular. I played the 4-8 there on Friday afternoon and Saturday evening for a while, and it was a good game overall; lotsa action and potential. They also spread the only "big" game in town, a 10-20 that starts on Saturday morning around 10, and goes until the players can't take it anymore on Sunday morning... I played that for about 6 hours on Satuday morning/afternoon, and finally managed to get back into it again about 11:30 (I took off for about 3 hours for a nap and dinner, and could not hold my seat that long) that night. It got short-handed a little past midnight, and we played 4-5 handed until I decided sleep was in my best interest, with a long drive to Phoenix still ahead of me, so I left it at about 2:30. The short-handed play was great and I wish I could have played another 10 or 12 hours that way.

I also went over to the Riverside for a NLHE rebuy tourney on Friday night. The tourney was good, but I busted out about 10 minutes after the rebuy period ended because I was too aggresive with Big Slick and ran into two different pocket pairs. Before the tourney, I played some 2-6 spread limit, which was a new experience for me. It remindend of the 3-6 games at CAZ... lot's of "any-two-can-win" players, and lots of bad-beats in the game. After the tourney, I played 4-8 for a couple of hours, and liked that one a lot better. The Riverside also had a certain flair, and charm reminicent of a B-grade mafia movie. :^) But I really did enjoy my few hours there, and found the room to be friendly, overall.

Anyway, that was my poker weekend in Laughlin. I really enjoyed myself, but the weekend would have been perfect if I had just one more day to play.

"How can Ace be one AND eleven? Huh? What kind of god would allow THAT?"

Thanks, Moz. We had a great time meeting you, too.

Look for a full "report" about your visit soon. I am still stuck on Friday! I have been so busy doing other things, that I havent updated my journal in quite some time.

Felicia :)

PS: I told you it was "good." LOL !
