When, if ever should I have folded, jaustin, 13. Dec 2003 01:08

Dealt AQo in the cut-off. 4 limpers, I limp as well and we see the flop 6 handed. Flop comes A44. Checked to me and I bet, early aggressive player check/raises (he would do this with any ace or a 4). One player in between us call and I call as well, hoping he'll lead with his ace and I can raise (getting an extra bet from hopefully both him and the player in the middle who is a decent player and I put on a weaker Ace as well).

Turn is an ace, checked to me and I bet, EP player raises (I'm sure he has an ace now) and MP re-raises. Now I'm worried, there is only one other ace out there. I call, EP caps.

River is a blank. River is capped with me calling the whole way. Sure enough, EP has A8 and MP has 44. Should I have folded this hand at some point, and if so,when (my thinking would be that on the turn after EP caps and MP calls would be the time if I were to fold).

As soon as MP calls 2 bets cold on the flop, warning bells should be going off. It's pretty unlikely that they both have an ace and you're ahead. Think of it like this. There's 2 aces and 2 fours unknown left in the deck somewhere. If you figure they each have one or the other, you're roughly 5 to 1 against for both of them holding an ace.
