| This is a NL Cash Game. Im first to act I raise a 1.50 with pock 10s my brother calls and my friend raises 2. I call my brother doesn't. Flop comes 8 4 2 Hearts. I go all in wit 12.75 into a 10.25 pot. I have the 10 of hearts. My friend has pock Kings with the king of hearts and wins. Was it a bad all in. | ||

| with the raise, you have to be scared on two fronts, either an over pair... or overcards.... he has one or the other... he isnt raising with A9 or something (I think). So the best your hoping for is an even money race.... when the flop came all under and giving you a flush draw, I would see your hand as very strong. Yet with the raise pre-flop, the check is possibly and probably a trap, or a check/raise attempt. Think about it this way.... what is he going to have that is going to call your all in.... obviously something that dominates you (unless you know that this player will push all his chips in with Ah Kd). So in your situtation I dont like the all-in, the only way he is going to call is if he has you beat. Just a thought Highflyin3484k (the 19yr old poker prodigy) | ||

| I have no problem with your all-in bet here, considering that your stack was only slightly larger than the size of the pot. With this particular board, you are holding a mediocre overpair and a mediocre flush draw. While you certainly can't be ecstatic about the hand, it does figure to be good a fair percentage of the time. Checking allows him a free shot at drawing out should he have a hand such as AK (which is a pretty likely holding IMO, especially with his check on the flop - a nice, crafty play by the way). If he calls, you figure to be an underdog, but I just don't see getting off this hand, considering the board, pot size, and amount of chips you have left. So, go ahead and fire them in there, since it will help you clinch the pot if all he has is overcards. Mark | ||

| I agree with Mark here, your stack in relation to the pot, and the board, make a all in rather necessary here to prevent a (as skalansky would say) mathmematical catastrophe, and most of the time he simply won' t have that over pair. | ||

| Maybe your right about the porportionality of pot/stack. Yet I still only feel that your going to get called if the he has the over pair or a made flush (Ah, Kh) Highflyin3484k (the 19yr old poker prodigy) | ||
