NL betting strategy part 2, KJo, 12. Dec 2003 14:49

A continuation of my previous post, with the same questions, different hand:

Very next hand after the AA I get AKo in the SB. A fairly loose player opens in MP with a $10 bet ($7 raise). One caller, rest fold to me, I raise to $30. First bettor calls, other bettor folds. First guy makes a comment about me having AA again, I smirk.

Flop comes down AKT, with 2 hearts. Good but very dangerous. I bet out $30, he makes a comment about "I hope you haven't already made your straight" and calls. I would have much preferred a fold. Turn is a rag, I bet out $50. He calls again. I figure he's chasing flush or straight (or both) and might have a piece of the board, like the A. River is a heart and completes the flush, I check, he checks behind me and I win when he turns over KQ, with the Kh.

Same questions as before- given my objectives, are the amounts of my bets good? Or is this something that needs some fine tuning?

Thanks

Eli

Well, I know you're a much better player than I am, but I'll comment anyway (interspersed with your description)

I don't really like this raise with AK. I feel like it's just getting too much money in the pot with a drawing hand.

I don't think $30 was nearly enough on that flop. Pot has to be something over $60, and I would have definitely bet whatever the pot was.

Same again: I'd say betting pot would be better.

Check sounds great to me here, wouldn't want to give him the opportunity to checkraise with the flush.
