got dealt AA in fouth position from big blind
UTG raises it in a 5/10 game , i three bet it, get
3 more callers. Flop q7 3 (2diamonds) utg bets
i raise. 2 other callers. next card a 4 of clubs, he
bets and i raise, the 2 others drop. last card a 4 of
diamonds. he bets i call. Its not so much i got
beat by a flush. But another person out of the
hand types NH. i type nice hand my ****
Now why would someone say nh when not in
the pot and its not that great a hand to start off
with? just venting.

They'll do that for any or all of these reasons. First, they are complimenting someone if anyone wins with usually a straight or higher. I've had quads before and people are like wow. It's just professional courtesy. Two, they might say it as a way of encouraging the player who chased to go and do it again. Then they will punish the chaser when the flush does not hit the board. Personally, I love saying, "now THAT was a nice hand" when I bluff the pot out and win with pocket fours or some crap like that. You won't believe how many people start trying to "educate" me about the game. God, I love messing with people's heads.

Am I missing something, or didn't UTG deserve an "nh" for playing good poker-- aggressively playing his 4-flush draw with not much else on board to hurt him? If that's chasing then we might as well fold everything but made hands. What were UTG's hole cards? If he had the ace and was drawing to the nut flush with 4 people in a raised pot then I'd say "nh."

This brings up a interesting question. How aggressively should you play a nut-flush draw? I have seen a lot of examples of people 3-betting or even capping with just this draw when other people still haven't called one bet. Wouldn't it be better to try and keep as much people as possible in the pot?

I this case I could see the flop bet as being good, just to make sure to get money in the pot if the draw hit, but it could be questionable when the initial better still haven't acted. When the initial better (tron) raises with 3 people still to act, they might drop out of the pot and instead of 3 more bet (if all the callers are calling one bet) you only get 1 extra bet (trons raise).

This is what happened on the turn. If the drawer would just have checked the turn with tron betting, maybe one or both of the remaining callers might have called the one bet.... (You could then even check-raise and maybe get even more money into the pot ;-)

So, you are UFG with a pre-flop raiser between you and 3 callers, the flop gives you a nut-flush draw, should you bet or check? (I know "it depends", but what is the general feeling about this?)

No, I never said that a pre-flop raise with those cards where good.

After the flop, with 4 diamonds (K high, so not the nut-flush), if there was more than 3 potential callers left and I thought there would be no bet, I might bet out to get some money into the pot. Hopefully I would get more that 2 callers and have the right odds for the action.

Now, if I have a pre-flop bettor after me, that I would expect to bet or raise, I would check-call to try and keep as many people in the pot as possible and build the pot that way for the possibility of me hitting the second nut-flush.
