Party and Paradise results for past month or so, have only been keeping stats since late October. 108 30+3's
1st-10 2nd-17 3rd-20

4th-5th - 44 6th-10th - 17
I dont have any poker trackers so I use Excel to keep my tourney stats.
As you could probably see from my numbers I play conservatively until down to about 5 players, this way I have a good chance of getting into the money. Once down to 5 players I really begin to open up considerably. This causes me to bust out 3rd-5th a good % of the time. I have tried to remain tight longer and have had little success due to my stack being too low to be competitive. For those concerned, during this period I had two "bad streaks" One where I lost 13 straight without a cash, and another with only one 3rd in 9 tourney span. Hope this helps Scott

21 SnGs in past 2 weeks. Mix of $5 and $10 limit/NL Party, Royal Vegas, and Golden Tiger.

38% in the $
grand total= $12.50 profit. Look out world!

Too bad I've thrown down far more than that playing long shot multi-tables that haven't panned out. Still trying to figure out which format I like most (I think there was at least 1 pot limit in there somwhere)

I've done a little of that myself. Cant seem to get to the good money. Can get to the money but nothing worth playing 4.5 hours for. Scott

Tony- had fun playing in the SnG with you the other night. Here are my stats for $50 SnGs on Party. I have only been playing these for about three weeks, so I dont have a large sample. Before that I played the 10 and 30 SnGs sometimes, but I didn't always request the hand histories until I started the $50 tourneys. Here Goes:
52 tourneys
1st-8
2nd-10
3rd-6
4th-5th-13
6th-10th-15
Im in the money 46% of the time (I'm sure that percentage will go down over time) and have a net profit of $1240

SPK, I play at PokerStars and my numbers are better than most of those listed (although I play the $10's and not the $30's or $50's which I assume are harder). Ive been in the money 52% and my return is 52%. Im not meaning to brag. Im just making a counterpoint to your point that their results are tainted by rumored bad competition. I HAVE heard that PokerStars has the best players but without firsthand comparison, I have taken that with a grain of salt. I am about to open an account at UB though so I guess I find out soon enough.

Maybe I'm doing somethign totally wrong as I've lost money overall on tourneys on PokerStars and PartyPoker. Of course a lot of it I think has to do with the fact I was counting my multi-table $50 buy-ins. Maybe I'll separate that stuff out and see what my numbers show.

Is there any way to get stats?, Danny A, 12. Dec 2003 22:04

I play in these SnG tourneys from time to time but never kept track, is there any online way to get the information of how many you have won/lost? Or does everyone do it by hand. Let me know as I am very interested, If it's something that needs to be done manually I will start doing it,

Why would you want to play where the competition is BETTER and the payout is LOWER. (9 players per table). I have an account at Pokerstars and play mainly the multitables. The SNG's at paradise are a little tougher than at Party but not significantly. Ub seems to me to be the toughest of all 4. I have an account at Ub also and only play multis.
If you find a site with easier SNG's than Party, please let me know. Scott

Only kept stats for last 15 SNG's (and only at $5, all at stars). Hope it helps at little though.
1st 4, 2nd 2, 3rd 2, 4-5th 4, 6th-9th 3 (all 6th).

I also found another post on this subject on a different forum and will post it below.

There is still a question about whether the online single-table NLHE games are "significantly" beatable. The amounts you can win (at least at smallish stakes like $10 + $1 entry fee) are probably less than the minimum wage but if you're looking for recreation, here's my results from 100 such events.

1 XXXXXXXXXXXXXX (14)
2 XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13)
3 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (26)
4 XXXXXXXX ( 9)
5 XXXXXXXXXXXXX (13)
6 XXXXXXXXXX (10)
7 XXXXXX (6)
8 XXXXX (5)
9 XXXX (4)

Many of them were played 10-handed but I never finished 10th and I've made the $ calculations as if I played all 10-handed even though I actually played nearly half 9-handed - but it's fairly close.

Takeout $1610
Buyin 1100
Net 510

So that's $5.10 per event.

The play in these tourneys is so bad that one could easily post/fold for the first 4 rounds and find oneself in at worst 5th place with people (even those with unassailably large stacks) still taking shots at one another - before busting out the small stacks. In more than one case, I got to 3rd place without playing a hand! Until the maniacs bust out (and almost every game had several), there is no point in looking at anything worse than AKs and even QQ can be played very snugly (and JJ might as well be folded pre-flop much of the time!).

The games are so popular (particularly at Party Poker and its portals like Empire Poker) that sometimes the hardest part is getting a seat - at almost any hour! There are often over a hundred being played at once. Of course totally avoid their $5 + $1 format because even a poker god can't beat a 20% rake. (P*** has $5 + $.50 games, but all theirs are 9-handed, which makes for lower payoff)

At the levels such as $30 or higher... they are significantly beatable and significantly profitable. By significantly profitable I mean people can make a living doing so. What I'm wondering is how everyone has great stats here yet every time I play one all I see is bad players. Maybe thats why we're on UPF because we actually have a clue =) But there are VERY few regulars (around 5) that I have seen consistently over the last 6 months that play at my levels that from my evaluation of their play and their longevity must be profitable at them.

Holy crap! That is awesome.

Please send me your hand histories so I can worship them ... :-)

How do you place in 66% of the SNG's? Do you fold through the first four levels or mess it up with the idiots hoping for an easy early double?

I've been stuck at around 40%. I thought I had made some changes and climbed to 50%, but then I hit the dry spell from hell (placed 2 times in about 30). I'm back on track though after taking a little time off.

243 SNGs at Party (NL)
1 - 27
2 - 35
3 - 35

Haven't got all of my SNG stats compiled yet, but here's some of them:
9-player SNG (pokerstars)
32 $5 hold-em limit (4 1st, 7 2nd, 7 3rd)
5 $10 hold-em limit (no money finishes - argh!)
1 $20 hold-em limit (5th)
7 $5 omaha8 limit (1 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd)
3 $10 omaha8 limit (1 1st)

18-player SNG (pokerstars)
11 $5 hold-em limit (1 2nd, 1 3rd, 1 4th)
3 $10 hold-em limit (1 2nd)
7 $5 omaha8 limit (3 1st, 1 2nd, 2 3rd, 1 4th - all in the money!)

69 total, 34 in the money

Ok, I sat down and did it for you.
I started playing poker 11/06/03 (for real money, as a beginner) and these are the results to date, including my first ones which were all pretty bad. They are all SnG's from $5 to $20, I included the fees in my calculations - sorry I didn't break them down any more but I keep records by hand and it would be a pain.
1st - 12
2nd - 7
3rd - 6
4-5th - 14
6-10th- 26
Finished in the money 38.5% of the time, ROI is +27%. The longest no money streak was 7 tournaments. And I am definitely getting better.
