| I just wanted to share with you my results from a tourney where I didnt get any cards. Two nights ago i played in the Party Poker $30 NLHE tourney. There were around 830 players. I finished in 35th place and won $150. I was surprised I got that far. I never got dealt AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, AKo, AKs, AQs, AQo. The best hands I saw over the Three hours were AJo (three times), AJs (once), 99 (once), and A10 a few times. Most pots I won were from aggressive preflop bets followed up by aggressive post flop play, even though most of the time I doubt I was ahead. I rarely entered the pot out of position because of the crappy cards i was getting. I aggressively defended some blinds as it was getting late in the tourney and I was in survival mode. I finally busted out with this hand. Blinds 1000/2000, Im the BB with Q5s and have 2500 left after paying the BB. Im the shortest stack. Two limpers, a big stack pushes allin, SB calls and is allin (he had a little bit more than me) I called as well. Im thinking the pot will be at least 4 way. I caught two spades on the flop, but didnt complete my flush and im out. Do you think that was a stupid play. I probably could have folded there and fold my SB and wait another orbit. But at best i may hand on till the next round of payouts 21st-30th, which payed an additional $25. My logic was that the it would cost my 2500 to close to 20,000. Any thoughts???????? | ||

| I guess you had the pot odds but Q5s is pretty marginal. HOWEVER, if you would prefer a shot at making the final table then a more likely shot at moving up one rank in the money then i don't see anything wrong with your play, its just a matter of what your goals for that tournament are. | ||

| I think your call was correct. Your SB hand was likely to be no better. Folding the SB would leave you with 1500 and it would take a bigger miracle to make the final table than winning with your Q5s. I think the shot at making the final table is more valuable then trying to stick around and move up one more rung in the payout. | ||

| P + A = W P = Position A = Aggression W = Winning poker Congrats on making the money despite the dismal starting cards you were getting. From experience I know that is very tough to do. It makes you work for it, and the survival skills you pick up will be very useful in tourneys where you do hold a hand once in awhile. | ||

| thanks noiseboy. I was still very nervous when i bluffed at the flop. Thanks to online poker, i didnt give up any tells. I think i raised the same amount preflop almost everytime. I think that helped, cause they werent able to put me on a hand. I flopped a set of 66's after a pretty aggresive preflop bet. I know raising preflop with 66 is horrible. But i was first to enter the pot and in late position. The big blind called and the board was Q 6 4 rainbow. The big blind had QK and called my big bets to the river. | ||

| If it gets folded to you in LP, a raise with 66s isn't bad at all. I mean if there are already limpers you might just limp, but folded to you, you should bet. Maybe you get it heads up with one of the blinds, I'd make a bet if it were checked to me, even if I missed the flop in many cases depending on the board. | ||

| I dont think a big raise with 66 in LP is horrible at all. You might steal the blinds and if an ace flops you might be able to steal the pot. | ||
