Sometimes there are one or more players at a table that are always trying to play back at you. For example I will be the first one in from late/mid position and raise w/ AQ and the "play maker" to my left will make it 3 bets. Or I will raise from the button or or cutt off, again first one in, with AK, AJ KQs etc. and the "play maker" will call from one of the blinds and check raise on the flop and try to take me off of the pot. Sometimes I raise on the turn, with AK, AQ if the check raiser bets out, playing back at him, and then check it down on the river. A lot of times I win it right there or my A is good.

Thoughts?

Sounds to me like you can make good money, there. He can't possibly be getting a better hand than you every single time and if he reraises with inferior hands, he is giving you money. If you feel good about your starting cards, don't let some bully put you off them. When you know you have him beat, reraise his check raise. If he calls you down and loses a couple of times, he'll either give up on that crap or he'll keep giving you money. Either way, you win.

When someone blindly raises everything you do, it's poor play (unless it is part of some extremely advanced superplay he is working on, which seems a bit unlikely) and unless it works and you fold the better hand, it is going to cost him money.

Thanks Space!

I guess I sometimes I feel I am blowing off a lot of chips, calling someone down with A high. But if he is going to try to keep doing that, I guess I have to hang in there. Like last night when I raised with AK first in ,late position. Mr. "playmaker" called me from the small blind with J5 offsuit. The flop totally missed both of us. Of course he check raised me on the flop, putting me on big cards, and hoping I had missed. The turn brought a 5 and the river a brick, he bet every street and drug the pot with his 5's.

You're welcome. I've played against people like that many times and I know how annoying it can be.

I'm not necessarily saying call him down with Ace high, at least not too often. Remember, though, especially when you are heads-up with him it's just as likely that the flop missed him as missed you. So, reraise his check-raise every once in a while if you get a piece of the flop or if you think he's on high card and the flop is raggedy. Also, don't let him scare you off of good starting cards. The kind of person who will bet into you with nothing after the flop may also reraise with with Jx suited pre-flop. In short, I am just saying don't be afraid of him and if you have something decent like 2nd pair, call him down more often. Either he'll get sick of being called down with his garbage hands and stop pulling that crap with you or else he'll keep doing it and most of them time you'll take his money.
