| What are the odds in a ten-handed game of at least one player holding at least one Ace pre-flop? Thanks, Carl | ||

| If it's at my table, it's got to be close to 100% The odds are even greater that I'm not holding one. Seriously though, check out the "ODDS" link at the bottom of the forum, you'll find some great info there. | ||

| One way to figure it is this: There are 20 cards dealt, hence there are (52!)/(32!) ordered deals. Of these, (48!)/(28!) do not include any A. Hence the probability of having no A is: [(48!)(32!)]/[(52!)(28!)] = 32*31*30*29/52*51*50*49=7,192/54,145=13.3% The probability that there is some A at the table is thus 86.7% | ||

| You had probably explain why 87% is not correct, the tables give it as 13.28% that no one, including yourself, will have an A at a 10 person table. Pretty close to 87% that an A will be dealt in my book. | ||

| Flop, I think you misspoke here. This should be right on the money. By the way, Smokey's remarks as to "assessment of aces" are also very interesting. And then there's the additional factor of whether or not an ace might have been folded, as it really should be if it was an AXo vs. healthy KK pre-flop raise. Hence, I'm usually a fan of betting the KK aggressively even if the ace shows up and seeing what response I get before thinking more seriously about giving it up. For all my opponents know, I may have AK or AA myself. | ||

| Something that will really screw up your game is that if you have KK and the flop comes ace high there is less of a chance someone has an ace. Not using the proper combination method which is the correcct way too calculate it think about it this way, 1 out of every 13 cards is an ace so everyone has a 1 in 6.5 chance of getting an ace. So on average about 1.5 aces are dealt as hole cards. So it is very likely that somone is dealt an ace every deal and an average deal has two players with aces, maybe thats why kickers are improtant? | ||

| smokey has it completely correct, 1/13 cards are an ace, if twenty cards are dealth, duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh if one out of every thirteen is an ace, then it is about 1 to 2 aces are dealt every round | ||
