Hi ! I am working on online poker project, infact writing small tech stuff so people who want to develope poker solutions can get more information . I will appreciate all the help by you experts in the forum .

1. I would like to know in online Tournament if a player gets diconnected what will happen will all this money be put in all-in or will he be folded and consider out of the game . now these two have two more questions ot it .
a) If disconnected player's money/chips are put as "all-In" and in that case if the players wins the round but he is still outside the game since he was diconnected what will happen then ?

b) if disconnected player is considered folded in disonnected state then what will happen to his chips which were left on the table .

Please let me know how does these online poker sites handle this because I could not find about this on any of their sites or in their diconnection policy .

Thanks .

Typically in any game if you get disconnected, you are considered all in for that hand. The hand continues with a side pot if there is more than 1 other player in the pot, otherwise the rest of the cards are just shown and either the discon wins or loses.

Either way, that player is then flagged as disconnected, and stays in the tourney, just putting his blinds in.

But now what do you suggest here :- since its tournament so if i as player gets disconnected while playing what should have to my chips ? do i go in All-in state ? and if i do go in All-in state then for rest of the game what will happen ?
If i win what will happen will I still be flagged diconnected and keep paying my blinds from their on till i am over with my chips?

if i loose after diconnected/All-in will i be still be flagged as disconnected and keep giving blinds till i am over with my chips ?

Tourneys and ring games- if you are in the middle of a hand, you are regarded as being all-in for the amount of money you have put in. Nobody can raise you out of the pot, and you can only win what is already in the pot when you are disonnected, the rest of the betting occurs in a side-pot. In a tourney you are then regarded as being away and you will post blinds and fold until you run out of money or come back, as opposed to a ring game, where you are then dealt out of the game. This is a problem though, because angleshooters can take advantage of this by disconnecting if they have a draw or weak hand and dont want to put any more money into the pot. I swear this happened to me in a SnG once- blinds are 100-200, chip leader raises to 500 from the button, I am in the BB with QQ, i immediately reraise all-in, which is only another 350 that I assume he will call and I will double up. However, he supposedly disconnected in the two seonds it took for me to reraise. He got to see the cards without putting any more money in. Surprise, surprise, he turns over 63 at showdown. Definitely suspicious. I would have had 350 more chips if he had called, all the players at the table agreed that they thought he cheated, and yet party poker refuses to even refund my $55 buy in to the SnG. CHEATERS! However, even though some people may take advantage of this, I can't conceive of any fairer method.

Depends on the site. At Party and many other sites, you'd be declared all-in and you no longer have to call any further bets and will see the river. This is a very inferior system as it leads to serious abuse. You have a good, but not great hand in NL (or a draw), bet, and are reraised the pot. Then--oops--you pull the pull on your internet connection and are put all-in and don't have to face that big bet and will get to see the river for free. This purposful disconnect happens a LOT on Party and other sites that allow this form of cheating.

OTOH, PokerStars has a time clock and does not allow all-ins in tourneys and NL/PL games. You get a lot of extra time to reconnect (60 secs or more) if disconnected, but if the time clock runs out, you get folded. The more money you have invested in the pot, the longer your clock time to reconnect. This solves the all-in abuse problem, no one does it on purpose. Also nice is that the time clock allows you to mull over a big decision. Stars system is the way to go and I wish the other sites would adopt it.
