why is it?, crazy canuck, 8. Dec 2003 22:41

I have a question for the panel. First, I have been playing poker for about six years. I am steadily increasing my poker bankroll, which is great. But, when I book losing sessions I feel horrible and that feeling stays with me longer than the good feeling I'm supposed to get from when I have my winning sessions. Why is that? How come I shrug off the wins but not the losses. Does that make sense to anyone?

Could be that you expect to win. Good players usually do! And losing just sucks, period! For instance, If you put a bad beat on someone else, you'll tend to forget about it alot quicker then if someone puts a bad beat on you, right? Besides, if you show good long term results and you're consistently playing solid poker, then don't sweat it. Just try to keep things in perspective so your emotions won't effect your game.

Name me 5 bad beats you've put on somebody, i highly doubt you can, now name 5 bad put on you, i could do that in a minute. Losing just sticks out more cause we remember it better. And by the way i totally agree with you, i HATE losing at poker, i go crazy and think theres something wrong with my game and reread poker books or passages and spend all day pondering why, when normally its just some bad player sucking me out. When it comes to dealing with losing i highly recommend the book "the tao of poker", GL man.
