| what hands are playable in a low limit game where ANY 2 hole cards usually see the flop. should i just play pocket pairs and Axs and hope to flop a set or a big draw?? i recently just played in a game where my aces kept getting beat because my friends were calling 3 bets with hands such as 10c6h or 37s. i know in the long run i will win but the only reason i lost was because i was only playing big hands such as pocket aces and kings and AKs and medium pairs. | ||

| Stick to good starting hands and you should eventually win the money in your game. These hands include pairs and big suited cards - hands such as QJ suited are good in games where many people take the flop, as they have significant drawing potential. In very loose hold'em games, you generally need to make more than 1 pair to win, so play hands that have a better than average chance to turn into big hands (sets or better). Mark | ||

| What hands should you play if you're running bad in a one table on-line satelite? Also, if you are throwing hands like KQ suited away becuase you've been losing the entire time with KK, AA, QQ, and AK suited, when is it right to play a good hand like this? | ||

| I think that you need to take starting hand requirements in context. your starting cards are 2/7th of your hand. I believe the proper winning strategy in holdem is to try and start with one of the best hands preflop, and stick with the hand only if the flop is favorable. I avg seeing 18% of flops in limit hold'em and have a pretty rigid preflop strategy. I only play acesuited, small pairs and suited connectors if 3 opponents have limped in, these are drawing hands that need odds. I don't care how tight or loose the game is I stick to that rule for my drawing hands. That way i usually get 5 to 1 (the blindfs) and am in fairly late position with my drawing hands. I wont play suited connectors at all in a raised pot because if you flop top pair there is a good chance it is not good, against solid competition KQs,Ajs are easy folds preflop to a raise because the chance of domination is so great. I never play unsuited connectors unless i am gettin 10 to 1 or more from the sb because they have less ways to win. Over the long run i only want to draw when it is extremely favorable for me because most of the time drawing hands don't even pick up a draw on the flop. When you take a 'bad beat' you are at the right table, because for the most part drawing is for suckers. Ask Roy Cooke his favorite hand is Aces, not J10s. If you want to win at poker start out with the best hand and fold if you get an unfavorable flop and stiff action from your competitors. Ironically folding is the right choice somewhere around 65-85% of the time. It took me awhile to let go of the AA and KK hands postflop when stiff action came but remember most players raise on the turn says they can beat an overpair or top pair and a fold is almost always the right choice, you have little chance of improvement ususally and it costs 2 bb to catch a buff or an overbet by your oppoent. Finally play really loose hold'em games like omaha, try and build the nuts or a good draw to the nuts. The pots are usually very big and you may need to only win a few pots to come out ahead for the seccion. A few months back I played 3-6 at the mirage for 5 hours, played three hands went 3-3 and won a hundred bucks. In loose wild low limit games most players dont notice how tight or selective you are, wait for a premium starting hand, a good flop and then continue driving thru to the river your opponents will pay you off with the garbage they have won previous pots with. | ||
