| We're playing .05-.10 micro-limit at Poker Stars, boys and girls, so anything goes. That said, I'd appreciate any and all commentary on how I played the following two hands. Please note that I'm particularly not whining about losing, quite the opposite: I'm expecting this sort of thing to happen, and am in fact quite grateful, since in theory, it "guarantees" me a long term profit. Given these caveats, here are the stories. HAND ONE We're playing 8 handed in a "typical" loose/passive micro-limit game. I'm in seat 5. Not much information is known about relevant opponent's, our best guess is the following: Seats 2&3: calling stations, playing over half the flops, never bluff or bet on the come. Seat 4: mostly unknown, playing fewer hands than most at this limit, but still way too many, not aggressive. Seat 6: unknown. We're dealt As Ts. Everyone calls to me (four calls). I decide to raise. Seat 6 cold calls. Seat 7, Button, and UTG folds. Everyone else calls, so we're seeing the flop five handed. Flop comes K Q J, two clubs. Church bells go off. The hand is checked to me. I bet. Seat 6 raises!! Everyone COLD CALLS, back to me. Wow. I clearly have to reraise. Everyone calls. Sadly, the turn comes 9 of clubs. The hand is checked to me. Now comes, I think, my first real decision of the hand. Given all this action, I feel someone must have made their flush, and I don't want to bet their hand, so I check. Seat 6 checks behind me. Oops, have I just given a free card to any four flush? The river is the 5 of hearts. Seat 2 bets. Seat 3 raises. Seat 4 folds. It's up to me. I fold. Seat 6 folds. Seat 2 calls. Seat 2 shows Kh Qs. Seat 3 shows Qd Td to win the $1.27 pot (almost thirteen big bets). So, the obvious question: should I have called the river? And should I have bet the turn? HAND TWO This one is a laugh a minute. We're still playing .5-.10. We're on the button, playing 9 handed in the kind of loose / passive micro limit game you dream about, against mostly unknown opponent's: UTG is probably the most aggressive player at the table, very loose, but certainly not a maniac (i.e. her bets usually show something, but not necessarily very much). We're dealt AKo. UTG raises. Seats 2,3 and 4 fold. Seats 5 and 6 cold call. I reraise on the button. SB folds. BB, UTG, 5 and 6 all call, so we're seeing the flop five handed. Flop comes A A 4 rainbow. More church bells. BB checks. UTG bets, Seat 5 RAISES!, Seat 6 folds. I reraise. BB folds. UTG CAPS IT. Seat 5 calls. I call. Turn comes deuce, four different suits. UTG bets, Seat 5 calls. I raise. UTG RERAISES. Seat 5 folds. To me. I tank. Could UTG really have raised preflop with A4 or A2. Ye Gods. What to do? I decide to check the hand down, so I call. The river is an 8. UTG bets. I call. UTG does indeed show A2s to win the $2.27 pot (almost 23 big bets). Do you think I was right to check-call the hand down? Or should I have bet out? Thanks for your time. As I said, I hope you haven't taken these stories as whines, because they're not intended that way. I understand full well that my opponent's play is to my long term advantage. What I'm grappling with here, is *my* play. And I'd appreciate your thoughts on that. Best wishes as always. | ||

| hand #1 bet the turn, sure someone might have the flush but giving a free card to any other straight draw or single flush card is horrible. if im remembering right on the turn there should be about 10 BB already in the pot, you want to win this pot if you can. i think you have to call on the end cause the only hand that beats you is a flush and your getting the pot odds for a call *unless a serious rock is betting* hand #2 just sux, something to keep in the back of your head at low limit poker is alot of players play any ace from any position, thats good for your long term bankroll but will put you in spots like the one that happened sometimes. hard to give up on top trips top kicker think its one of those crying call situations.
