All-ins with draws, Numie, 7. Dec 2003 00:11 | ||

| Apparently I am misunderstanding some of what I have read in Super System. One thing that Brunson says is that sometimes if he is re-raised he will push all in with a straight or flush draw. Is it profitable to do this on occasion with good draws or am I misunderstanding it. Thanks in advance. | ||

| Only profitable if your opponent has a reasonable chance of folding. If he is going to call, you're putting in all your money as an underdog. Lee | ||

| It's important to remember that Doyle Brunson is Doyle Brunson and the rest of us are not. I would not necessarily try to emulate his play. If you think your opponent will fold to your all-in AND you have good draws, go for it. However, and this is especially true if the dollar amounts are small, people will not fear you the way they might Doyle Brunson and they won't fear losing their money the way they might if you were pushing $18,000 dollars in. You're probably going to get called. It makes sense to me that the Doyle Brunsons of the world will get away with making moves most of us cannot. They have instinct, reputation and experience and they are playing for amounts of money that get respect. I think most important before you start playing like Doyle is to be able to read like Doyle. I doubt he just shoves those chips in whenever the urge strikes him. He knows his man and plays accordingly. I learned a lot from Super/System but just thinking about playing the way he does, I can see the places where he can do it and get away with it but I would lose my shirt. SpaceAce | ||

| i think we just discussed a problem like this a bit ago here, if i remember right a draw with about 14 outs is better than a 50-50 bet add to that the chance they will fold and why wouldnt you go all in? *my math is saying 14 outs gives you about a 52% chance to get there by the river* Rule #1 of Poker Circumstances alter cases Rule #2 NEVER forget rule #1 | ||
