| JJ from EP folded to me I raise, player directly on my left calls. My notes on him read semi-good player but that is after 50 hands. Folded around BB calls. Flop comes KAA ....eh with two spades I have Js. I bet out. Both call. Was this a wasted bet? turn is 4s. I check, Semi good player bets, BB calls and I....fold? In reflection perhaps the fold with the 4 to the flush plus any jack deserved a call. | ||

You raised from EP coming in, and you're representing a big hand, preflop and on the flop. What the players reactions are 'after' you lead out is a different story. I would not give a free card there unless you are planning to check-fold. > > turn is 4s. I check, Semi good player bets, BB calls and I....fold? 4P- I would have folded also. Even though you made an attempt on the flop, when both players call you, one of them (should) have you beat there and/or perhaps one of them was drawing to the flush which arrived on the turn. Also, once you check on the turn?, the way I see it, you have two choices - you either call and then pay it off on the river (because you 'could' actually still have the best hand, and perhaps, the semi-good player was trying to make a play for the pot, or perhaps he had a wired smaller pair and thought that he could get you to lay your hand down). Second choice is, you check-fold because after the semi-good player bet, there was also an overcall from the BB, and I just don't think that your two jacks look very promising anymore, which includes you calling a big bet there to draw to a flush (that may not be any good). You had the minimum invested in this hand and now it's time to cut your losses. In my opinion, if you call a bet on the turn, 'that' is a wasted bet. Good fold. 4P- > In reflection perhaps the fold with the 4 to the flush plus any jack deserved a > call. | ||

| Hopefully you raised pre-flop. What did the the others do pre-flop? (A pre-flop raise, from them, would indicate a good possibility of Kings and Aces being out. If they only called your raise(?) a bet or a raise might win the pot right there. If reraised-Fold. | ||

| I don't think it's a wasted bet. You'll take down that pot often enoughb to make it worth it. You're getting 6.5 to 1 on the bet. The other option is to check representing a slowplay, but will only work against players who can lay down a hand and they still will be unlikely to fold an ace. Someone might very well call your flop bet with a king though, whereas they may fold if you represent the slowplay. Of course, representing the slowplay usually costs a big bet if not two, so you have to weigh your options. Lee | ||

| calling on the turn with the 2nd nut flush draw and a jack probably would be worth it to me to call the turn hard to call the river without improving though Rule #1 of Poker Circumstances alter cases Rule #2 NEVER forget rule #1 | ||

| If there is a jackpot in this game, would it be prudent to at least call the turn bet to see if the third ace hits? I think it is likely you are beat if someone bets the turn, however, if you call they may check the river giving you a free showdown. If there is no jackpot I would probably fold to a good player. | ||
