I played in my first live tourney at Hollywood Park over the holiday.
I decided to be as tight as possible for the first hour (unlimited rebuys) and do the add-on at the break.

Picked up a few small pots in the first hour and was happy.

Here's the hand that haunts my nights:

I am chip leader at my table with approx 8K before the next break (when the blinds would raise to 500/1000 w/ 100 Ante)
I was dealt Ac 10c and I called the blind.
Guy after me (2nd chip leader) raised to 1200.
Myself and another guy called.

Flop comes: Jh-Jd-Qc

Guy beside me bets.
I call. (other guy is all-in with whatever he had, maybe 1+k)

4c comes on the turn.

Guy beside me goes All-in. If I call, I'm still left with about 2K in chips.

I put him on a J early on and I didn't want to second guess.
I figured he had me there, but I had 8 clubs (including K) and 3 other kings which would win it.

Rag on the river, I lose. He indeed had J-9

Ok. Not the smartest move. I was definetly caught up in the adrenaline of winning a huge pot in the prior hand (KK vs. 44, when a 4 flopped and the K came on the turn) and figured I had a decent draw.
What I really failed to consider was the position I was in once they called the break-- now the blinds and ante were murder and I lasted one round before being forced into an All-In, which of course, ended poorly.

Any thoughts?

I finished 47th of 178 and was pretty darn pleased given that it was my first time in a Casino playing Hold'em (I play online at UB).

Maybe Next time....
