| At school i met a few people who play holdem. They insist that the bettor of the hand goes 1st after the flop and who ever bets on the flop goes 1st on the turn. Same for the river. This kills one of the most important strategy of the game. This is very wrong !!!??? i say yes it is. If this was true it would not matter who is on the button or what position you are in. ( The right way)------The person to go 1st is the nearest person left of the bottom when the cards are delt a and after each round.... The button allways goes last ..ALWAYS.. how can i go about telling them they are playing wrong. I have mentioned this before but nothing has changed. | ||

| Well, you could show them any website that has the rules posted, or show them one of the basics books, like poker for dummies, or show them some real poker games, online or at a casino... or even show them responses to this post. In Holdem, betting ALWAYS begins left of the button. It's a basic tenet of the game, and posistion would be meaningless if betting occurred the way you describe. -Moz "I bent my wookie..." | ||

| SEE YOU AT THE TAJ or TROPICANA. trust me you do want in on this game. after every hand they discuse what they would of should and wanted to do if this and that would or should of happened. Chase like crazy....and play the rules of stud in a holdem game hahaha.................but the funny part is every time i play with them i am always up triple my bye in but somehow i get screwed and go back to even at the end. I had ACES in the pocket and the person im playing with just bought another 20$ more worth of chips on top of the 60 he lost in about an hour. So i put him all in ( i have around 45$) He calls and has 9,9. Of course nothing comes on the flop then a 9 comes out and then a full house for him on the river . But that was the only pot he got off me the whole night | ||
