| Hello. It appears that most of the strategy threads here deal with low-limit online games, but I will give this post a shot. I play mostly at middle-limit games in casinos, which basically play like low-limit games in casinos. That is, 92%+ flops are seen by an average of 4 players. I was trying middle-limit games online, and these games are incredibly tight. 20%+ of the flops were raise-fold-fold. In addition, big slick could cap pre-flop and bet the whole way and win unimproved. I guess it was called by ace-queen or king-queen, but it was bizarre. Also, the play was extremeley aggressive. I had pocket kings with one caller. The flop was ace-blanks. I was check-raised, and the flop was capped. I bet the turn, check the river, I win with kings vs pocket nines. Most pre-flop raises were premium hands, although i did see a few suited aces that were raised in early position that me fold hands like ace-queen and ace-jack. another example of common aggressive play was to cap the flop with top pair and king or ace kicker. i thought this was fine if i had the pair, but when i raised pre-flop with aces or kings, it was hard to tell whether i was against top pair-top kicker, queens, or a set. it seemed about half the time i was against a set, while other times i was against a lower pair. i checked out $5-$10 online and it was nothing like $10-$20 even though it's not that big a difference monetarily. the 5-10 played like normal low-limit/middle-limit game. the 10-20 15-30 online played more like 50-100 casino, not 20-40 casino. has anyone else had similar experiences? i believe suited connectors lower than jack-ten are absolutely worthless in this game, as fewer than 10% of the flops were 5+ players. post-flop play appears to be the difference (profit)-maker since everyone plays the same hands. any advice would be appreciated. thank you. | ||

| sfrancis, I think it depends on the site and table you choose. Some sites lean towards tighter more skilled play in general, while other sites are loaded with loose passive and loose aggressive players. There are simply so many games going at any given time online that you can and will find all types of tables. You may want to check out all the major sites. ReMMy | ||
