| I was recently playing 4-8 holdem at the casino and moved to a table were a friend I work with was playing. He is known to be a very good player and supposively (according to people who know him, makes a pretty good extra income). He played tight aggressive and definately knew what he was doing, but what baffled me was some of the cards he was playing. He would play hands like J T offsuite from early position and 89 and 67 offsuite from middle to late position. The game was fairly aggressive so I was surprised he would play this way. Do any of you agree that this is playing too loose? I think at a very loose passive game some you can certainly play more hands but not in this type of game. He won quite a few hands with these holdings , so maybe he knew what he was doing. I read in a book that it is okay to call a raise with cards as bad as 76 offsuite if three or more people had limped in before the raiser. This seems to loose to me as well. I would love to know what you think. | ||

| Were the pots being raised that frequently? All the hands he was playing would be pretty easy to release if it had come back around capped and with 5 callers or so not extremely horrible to pay the double on them, they are really easy to get away from when the flop misses and connectors seem to hit a fair amount. It sounds like he was playing them and if they hit played them out, if they missed ditching them before it got nastier and relying on the aggressive table to pay him off at showdown. | ||

| if he is getting payed off on these hands when he makes them and is getting away from them when they are beat yes it is a good thing. the way to put the 2X whammie on people drawing is to raise them up while they are on the draw and fold when they make it. this literally destroys them money wise for drawing to Most hands especially if they dont raise enough when they make it. One of the worst things in the poker world money wise is to pay too much for a draw then play it for less than its worth or not get payed off . Of course the Best drawing hands can be played both ways. | ||
