Hi,

I played holdem on Friday at Foxwoods. The table was full of new players, every hand was shown down, several times with players betting with 3rd high pair, etc... I respected one other player when they bet but none other. My problem is that I didn't catch a hand the whole night. I would stick around when I was in the blind or when I was on the button, but couldn't catch a flop. I pulled one straight, bet the crap out of it and had to split the pot, cause some fool stayed in when he had no logical reason to.

I have 2 questions.. 1. How to play at a table like this. I tried to play tight and kill them when I catch a hand, but I never had a chance. Is it just cold cards or is there something that I can do short of changing tables?

2. Why do cards run cold? Karma? How does that happen? The universe conspired against me, It's got to something that I create.. The week before I pulled $700 in 7 hours, then 2 days later finished 7th in an NLH tourney, I had some cards and was able to bust a move once in a while.

I had the same thing happen to me. I sat at a 3/6 full of live ones yesterday and didn't win a pot for 5 hours. Sometimes it happens. For games like this, play more drawing type hands, like suited connectors and AXs, even up front. Most of the time you don't have to worry about a raise. Same with small pairs, just dump them if you don't hit a set. Big unsuited cards go down in value. AQo hardly warrants a raise, and AJo and ATo might even be mucked preflop if too many people are hanging around in the pot. It's frustrating, but if you keep at it you'll come out ahead.

I was prepared to play suited connectors, small pairs, anything I could limp with I actually played Q9 offsuit and split a straight. I pulled AK and bet/raised every chance I could and was beat by pair of 3s. I geuss i did the right thing just didn't hit the cards..
