| i have been playing in a few small weekly NLHE tourneys some of the so cal indian casinos, to try and improve my NL and tournament play. the buy-ins for these tourneys are typically between $10-$25. my question is are these tournaments even worth playing? and if so, what strategy can i use to have success in these tournaments? generally, i get 1500-5000 in chips depending on the amount of the buy-in and the blinds start at 25-50. the blinds double every 15 minutes and half an hour after the tournament has started the blinds are already at 100-200. at first i was playing pretty tight just trying to wait for a premium hand that might allow me to double up. the problem is if you get involved in a hand and lose you wont be making an appearance at the final table. it seemed to me that those that advanced were the ones taking a flop with trash and hitting a string of miracle draws. so after that, i decided that i would try and give my self the best oppurtunity possible to get lucky. i would see the flop with any hand that had a chance to make any kind of straight, flush or big two pair and putting in all my money on big draws. once i get my hands on some chips i tighten up. i havent been using this strategy very long so its hard to say whether its been effective, although ive used it with some success on turbo holdem tournament edition. does this sounds like a valid strategy? does anyone know of another approach that has worked for them in these type of tournaments? | ||
