Game: Texas Hold 'Em
Stakes: 5/10 Play Money
Players: 9-10

I just finished a three-hour session. I elected to play the Corrected Sklansky Hand Groups (CSHG) 1-5 that are predicted to allow me to get action on 25% of the pots or roughly 8/hour.

I sat through 80 hands and saw 20 flops (25%) winning a grand total of THREE with one additional split. I lost approximately 200 chips during the session.

I swear there was at least one guy (possibly two) who folded almost every time he saw me call or raise 'cause he/they knew if I was in, I likely had something. This limited the pot size considerably and reduced my winnings.

The truly clueless ignored the fact that the "resident rock" had finally moved, and they kept raising until the river when they usually outdrew me. I lost the majority of my chips on one hand when I was fairly certain I was leading until the river when some one with a pair of 6s made a set.

So, I'm watching other people play poker, wearing out my mouse clicking the fold button, playing this super-tight, disciplined game that UPF, Jones and everyone else advocates, losing money, and trying to console myself with the idea that I'm playing "correctly".

Just a bad run of cards or am I doing something wrong?

Grrrr.

PS - Last night, I won 500 chips in about an hour with the same starting hand list. :-)

You answered your own question. Youre up 300 chips in 2 sessions. No strategy wins every time. Besides, play money means absolutley nothing. You have to move to the real money tables, even if its only the penny tables.
