Situational Trivia Question #3!, maniacmath13, 26. Nov 2003 22:42

Everyone knows about how in a tight table, it sometimes comes down to just the battle of the blinds, with the small blind calling, hoping to catch a pair, as is the big blind, even though they both have horrific hands.

question: What is the worst hand to have against 7/2 offsuit? and what suit combination? for example, ace ace with each ace the same suit as the 7 and the 2.

Good luck!

Just an intuitive guess - haven't worked it out but it certainly seems like also having 72o with suits reversed would give you the least likely chances of winning the pot outright and in most every other case that you'd be getting any chips you would be getting your money back . Only exception of course would be when a 4 flush came in which you had the 7 and your opponent had the deuce.

oops, technically thats the right answer, lol, but i ment to rule out the possibility of having the same hand. so try figuring it out without having 7/2 offsuit as well.

I'm gonna go for 62o with the 6 in the same suit as the 7. There is the straight possibility there, but pokerstove gives me a win for 72o of 66.5% with that hand since all the no-match hands go to the 7, all the deuce pairs, all the flushes in the suit of the 7, and the 7 pairs vs. 6 pairs. With 52o in the same way, 72o is still better but (presumably due to the straight) the chances go down to 64.8% on pokerstove...

I'm going to guess 93 offsuite, where your 3 is the same suit as your opponent's 7, and your 9 is a different suit than his deuce.

These things really are kind of fun! Essentially no direct practical value, but I do think they get you thinking about unusal draw possibilities and ways in which a lot of your draws can be dead...
