| I recently picked up "Hold Em Poker For Advanced Players" and was wondering how well the concepts contained within the book work for NL. Sklansky says that his book is written for a 40/80 game or limit stakes similar. Does his book hold true for other games and PL as well? I understnad that many concepts are universal and can be used anywhere. But if his strategies are for a particular style and game should I think about his ideas and thoughts differently to apply to NL. If this has been asked before I apologize but I was unable to find it via a search. Thanks in advance, Cody | ||

| No need to apologize for asking a question Cody and yours is a good one. The book does not apply to no-limit...If you want a good no-limit book read the section on no-limit in SuperSytem by Doyle Brunson Life is Good :-) Roy Cooke on 25. | Or get Cloutier/McEvoy's Championship PL and NL book. I find that one to be the best, although Doyle's Super System section is a must read for any serious player. | ||

| Hey thanks guys. I intend to still read this book becaue I feel that I need to understand limit better then I do at this time. It is funny how different the two games are becuase of the betting structure differences. Well I am glad I asked because I would have be ignorant otherwise. Sounds like SS is the book to start with though. Thanks Roy and Shorn for replying. Cody and life is good | ||

| I agree with the other replies. Doyle and Bobby Baldwin also discuss some fundamental differences between any limit v. NL/PL play. My approach over the years has been to read, study, and learn virtually everything I could about the game. In the end, however, table time is the only thing (along with a few bad beats!) that teaches the game for real! | ||
