Having a home tournament and was lloking for blind structure suggestions.

Hoping to end in about 4 hours.

Each person receives $1,000 in chips.

Does starting at $5/$10 and then doubling up every half hour make sense?

It really depends how many players, limit or no-limit, and what game?

But for a home game this looks like it might be over sooner than 4 hours.

0h-5/10
0.5h-10/20
1h-20/40
1.5h-40/80
2h-80/160
2.5h-160/320
3h-320/640

Already at this point it is over if you are assuming maybe 10 people playing texas hold'em.

Things to consider:

1)More players, then longer the game will go.
2)Limit is longer then no-Limit
3)If the game has a lot of split posibilities (hi-low) it will last longer.

If you can better answer these 3 questions I can give you a better blind structure.

Approx. 14 people. 2 tables of 7 till 10 are left.

No limit, and no split pots (hi/lo)

I would suggest two solutions:

1)start at 5/10, but double every 40or45 minutes

2)start at 10/20, double every hour, but also include a ante of say 5(doubling as well) for everyone(including the blinds). With only 17 players this not an uncommon structure, it enourages more play at no-limit and people can't sit back for too long.

Have Fun!
