Does everybody get the unassailable urge to play every hand after a bad beat to try and erase the memory of the loss by winning big within the next few hands?

I do it, I know I'm doing it and that it's wrong, but I still do it!

You just defined tilt. If you can't learn to control it, you shouldn't be playing poker(unless you dont mind giving away your money)

I had that feeling several times a while back, but losing even more as a result cured me pretty quickly. With a true "bad beat" (which I define as when you played a good hand correctly and your opponent wins with a longshot draw), I try not to worry about them too much--but I definitely make it a point to analyse the hand to determine whether I really did play it correctly.

NO. Why would I..... so maybe instead of losing one hand I could lose two? Three? Four? That doesn't sound very logical to me. In fact, it will only make matters worse. Besides, I value my game and my bankroll too much to just give it away like that and I don't want to rely on getting lucky when I enter the pot either. YUK!! Although...I must admit, I love when other people play that way when they're sitting at my table!! They're not thinking straight by any means at that point because they're on TILT and.....

When you go into a hand as an underdog, and you keep betting/raising, (what have you) - when the odds are still against you, well then more times than not, you'll tend to go out that way also. We all take bad beats so welcome to the club - but it's how you react to them that makes the difference........

The Player who keeps making the best decisions against his opponent at hand, and they're able to stay focused, and to remain calm at all times, is the one who stands the best chance to succeed. The ones who don't........have no shot at all. (control your emotions and understand that when you lose a hand or two, that it's all just part of the game - because if you don't realize that, and you continue to play on "auto-tilt"....then I hope you have a really fat bankroll to keep you in action....at least temporarily anyway). Rely on your skills and edges because your weaknessess will never reward you in the end.

My guess is that you are playing on low limit tables.... however, in direct response to your question... dont go on tilt, just decide you are going to bluff that same person out of a hand.. or preflop raise their blind. It happens to everyone but less so on higher limit tables

Actually, I've seen people get stone cold blown out steaming TILT playing 300/600. Uncontrollable tilt can happen at all levels. Not entirely sure if it's even more common at the lower levels.

I can honestly say that getting 'bad beat' does not affect me psychologically. However, making mistakes do. I do go on tilt sometimes when I make some obvious mistakes and lose. But I never get so blown out that I play every hand or even close to it. I do loosen up but you'll still never see me playing A7o against an early position raise in a full game. (4 handed, I would reraise)

My biggest weakness when I'm on tilt is that I will play poorly after the flop. Calling or raising with the hope that my opponent is bluffing and doesn't have a hand.

Hi. Before I learned to not tilt, I developed the concept of the tilt hand. When I had a loss and wanted to tilt, I waited until I had a cool tilt hand (say suited conmnectors or pocket deuces) and played it like a maniac. Sometimes won and sometimes I lost, but I felt better. And at least uit was only one hand.

FWIW.
