| Tonight the wierdest thing happened during a tourney on UB. I was sitting at my first table just playing as normal then all of a sudden one of the players was acting really strange, he kept saying things, then saying he didn't say them etc. Then another player did it one time. I was telling them to stop it because one of them said something like I have 72 offsuit right now, then he said no I don't I have 5/10 and he actually did have 5/10. I didn't understand what was going on I told him to not tell his hand in chat. Then about a minute later I was typing in some random message when all of a sudden the chat window pops up with something that I didn't type in but from my username. It said JohnFR: I have AK I never typed in the words I have AK, not only that I didn't have AK, had like 92 and folded it, then a few hands later it said. JohnFR: I have KK Also didn't have KK had like 74 or something. Nobody in the chat believed me that I actually wasn't saying those words, but I truly wasn't typing them in, it just kept popping up saying things like that, I then realized what the first 2 people were complaining about. Has anybody ever ran into this before, with somebody forcing messages that weren't actually being typed by the player? Should I be worried about it? I just don't understand what the hell was going on, I quickly went all-in and bounced myself out of the tourney so I could e-mail UB, and figure out what the hell was going on. | Sounds worrisome if true. It would seem to imply a breach in security. Even if it's only the chat interface, any breach in the site's security would be of serious concern.UB should get on that email asap, imo. | ||

| Here is the entire e-mail conversation in it's entirety so far: Remember the lower ones are the earliest and the ones towards the top are the most recent. I don't remember the exact table number, but you guys should be able to figure it out since it was table 21 in the 7PM eastern $3 rebuy satellite. It was within the first hour before the rebuy, and it happened a few times in the first hour. The other players affected by this hack were betorfoldem and another player that I don't remember. Think his the first four letters of his name were Mach something or other. Basically I believe this is a breach in security on your site, I believe somebody has hacked your chat interface, and if they can hack that I am not sure what else they can hack. I am e-mailing this to you so you can hopefully figure it out before players accounts are compromised. This should be passed along to the people that coded the security software and the chat interface security. If they want to talk to me have them send an e-mail and we can set something up to talk over instant messaging or something. If this truly is a hack, and I see it occuring much more often I will be forced to alert everybody I know about this site, and pull my money out. | I play UB 20 hours a week or more, and have never seen this. But if I ever do, it would scare the hell out of me. It sounds like it could be one of two things: 1- Someone has figured out how to hack-in live to the chat window and post messages "from" any player at the table. A prank, but the sign of a security flaw. 2- Someone has figured out how to send a bug to UBs software that automagically sends random messages to chat windows on random tables "from" players at those tables. Even less of a threat, but still the sign of a security flaw. Let us know how they respond, I would be very interested. -Moz "Looks like we caught us another customer, Eddie." | ||

| I would say I spend a bit more than 20 hours a week on UB, and I may have seen this one other time I just didn't realize I saw it. One day AnnieDuke logged on and I went to her table to watch of course. When all of a sudden I see: PhilHellmuth: Hey Annie, you there? (Annie was sitting out) I thought this was a bit wierd because I have UltimateBuddy and Phil is on it and he NEVER LOGGED ON and wasn't logged on when this was happening. Somebody said something to Phil, and another player said don't worry that is not him bro. I looked at the spacing and spelling and this Phil's spelling and everything was identical to the true player, but for some reason one of the players realized it actually wasn't him. I have no idea if this is the same thing, because I can't verify it like I can when it happened to me. Everybody at the table was yelling at the 2 of us that this kept happening to, I hated it I am a very honest player and a very friendly one to boot so I hate my reputation being compromised like that. | So here is their first real answer to my question, and it sounds like a load of crap if you ask me take it as you will: Hello, Our system sends messages with your name as a way to narrate the game. It is not another player using your name. This is something we have incorporated recently. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. If you have any further questions please let us know Thank you, Ann Customer Service Department Apparently they randomly send messages to narrate the game, even though those messages are completely untrue and if they were true would constitute illegal tournament play if I was to type the same exact messages. Take this as you will, I personally don't believe it myself, I want to talk to a damn programmer so I can talk to him personally, I have offered to talk to them on Instant Messaging or over the phone if they prefer, but instead they give me this line of crap. | I would immediately try to determine if this is a genuine email from UB or if it is a forgery. If it is a forgery, then UB, or you, have a serious security leak. I find it *extremely* difficult to believe that UB would give this as an explanation. If it is genuine, then I suggest that it is time for all of us to consider pulling our money and never playing there again for 1 of 2 reasons. 1) If what the message says is true, then I feel this is a very bad *feature* for them to add to game for fairly obvious reasons. 2) If the message is just a BS answer to cover up a security breach, then I don't want to play on a site whose integrity is suspect. Quite simply, we as poker players don't need UB to play on as much as they need us to pay the rake. Jim | ||

| Here is the e-mail in it's entirety from the very beginning(I actually replied to the e-mail confirmation as to make sure I have the right address). Remember the last reply is at the top and the first thing is at the bottom so read from bottom up.... I would also like to point out that since my latest e-mail I haven't gotten a response and I e-mailed them somewhat early yesterday. By the way this e-mail is sorta hard to read, but once you start it really isn't that bad, I just read it and it was painful for a minute, but after you get in the groove it isn't too hard to read. | These customer service people are not equipped to deal with your situation, I would demand to talk to a programmer about what happened. This is extremely serious and despite all of my good experiences with UB, if the chat is hacked into, who knows what else? | ||

| When I get home I will post the full e-mail message I have decided to give up on it, as the circumstances are very strange(you will see from the e-mail log that I will post), I still haven't recieved reimbursment but I am supposed to soon, Have to go for now though, John | ||

| I like to play in the free multitable poker tournaments while watching tv, and I have had a few instances where random words would appear in the chat box as if I said them. By random, I mean words I don't even remember that had nothing to do with anything. It would seriouslly be words like "original" or "closet". I don't have any money on there or anything, so I don't really care if people hack into their server and cheat- I just play there for fun if I feel a slump buliding on my real money account. I just though I would share this. | ||
