Today was the Hold'em tourney. I played, I triumped, I lost, lol. You know, one of those tourneys where you catch some good cards and suddenly find yourself the chip lead, then just as quickly get every premium hand outdrawn and go from "hero to zero" in about five hands? Yep, that was me. I always had the best of it before the flop, when we opened our hands, and I always got outdrawn. Darn that board! Why can't hold'em be a two-card game? Hahaha!

Before the tourney, Glenn and I helped start an Omaha 8 game. It was 3/6 with a full kill. Not a bad game. Both of us did well, and then something dawned on me which I should have seen earlier. Actually, my brain was waking up to this revelation long before it completely overwhelmed me, but I couldn't see it 100% clearly until this Omaha session.

Omaha *IS* the game for Glenn. No and's, if's or but's. Glenn is all about math, math, math. Science, science, science. Logic, logic, logic. He cannot tolerate constant bad beats. He wants poker to be like chess, where the best player wins. Poker isn't like chess, it has the element of chance. But Omaha is a game that can be beaten by pure logic, at the lower limits, anyway. Glenn seems so comfortable playing Omaha. He is more assertive and less hesitant. He can play "straight" poker. He doesn't need to sit around reading hands, getting tells from players, playing with their heads, psychologically. He can just play straight-up poker, and still win. He is not going to be bluffed off the best hand, because bluffing is virtually impossible in the lower limits of Omaha. The best hand usually has to be shown down.

So I had a long talk with Glenn on the way home from the Belle, and he agreed with me (what, he actually agreed with me???). He is going to study Ray Zee's book until it is falling apart, and then he is going to kill the Omaha game at the Belle. He can do it. This IS his game!

I played 4/8 with a vengence, until the tourney started. I did well, making about $160 in less than two hours. My studying paid off, plus I was just catching cards, lol.

The 4/8 game, once again, didn't get going until we almost demanded it. There were 20 names on the list before they would even consider opening a table!!! I was sitting in the Omaha game, waiting for HE to start, and finally said sarcastically to Ray, the day floorman, "What? Are we going for 25 names before we start a 4/8 now? Is that the new magic number?" Needless to say, they started a game within about 5 minutes. I don't know if my sarcasm had any affect (lol, right), or if it was going to be started regardless.

We never got a 4/8 game going after the tourney, which is crazy. All of the people who bust out always want to play. Had the game been "advertised" when bounced players approached the desk, there would have been a rocking game by the time I busted out. I'm sure that they were told 2-5 was the only game available. Grrrr!

Felicia :)
