| Saturday, November 1, 2003 So today found me stuck in the 10/20 game. Really stuck, for the first time. Part of the losing session had to do with some incredible bad beats, but part of it had to do with me, too. Just last week I was lamenting about how certain people come into the game, but cannot adjust to the table dynamics. I was one of those people this week. The table has been basically the same for the last couple of months. I had kind of a pattern down, I could beat the line-up. Well, today's line-up was different. There were more strong, solid players and less fish. They were playing much more aggressive, straightforward poker, and less slow playing. I had a hard time adjusting, and quickly dropped $400. Glenn and I went to dinner, where I regrouped and vowed to come back a new player. I did. Then the bad beats started. I sat and smiled. A few hours later, the table got better. More bad players entered, I dug my way out of the hole from 1k down to about $750 down. Then the bad beats started again. I knew this could/would happen to me. None of my good cards could hold up. The pat hand before the flop, on the flop and on the turn, got crushed by a two-outer on the river. One pot was capped btf eight ways! Yes, eight ways! I flopped top set, and was rivered by a four-outer. That pot would have gone a long way to putting me back to even. Instead, I lost almost $100 on it. I never wavered in my play, which made me happy, to know that I don't tilt, I don't steam, I don't do anything but play decent poker. That is the good news :) The bad news is, I obviously had some trouble adjusting for the first few hours. "After all, I had a winning formula, why wasn't it working this week???" Poor thinking on my part. Back to the drawing board. Theory of Poker must be chewed through again this week. I wish there was a regular 10/20 game in this area, so I could get right back on that horse, before I get gun-shy. Instead, I have to pray that a 4/8 game gets going, so that I can at least have some semblance of a "real" game. Maybe I should drive up to Vegas for a day. In other news, I talked to James, the poker room manager, for quite a while before settling into the 10/20 game. I got mostly good news. They are going to spread the 4/8 game, whether the floormen like it or not. Good news! The deal with RC is calming down. I don't know what in the world would possess RC to tell me it was all Ward's doing, but, as figured, that was a lie. It seems that RC has done this type of thing before, and in the end, it seems to stem from jealousy. I guess he doesn't like it when "good" players come to the Colorado Belle and decide to stay, so he makes up some drama with them. It usually passes, which is what I'm hoping will happen with this situation. Felicia :) | ||

| LOL! I'm only up to November 1, 2003. You'll get to read lots more losing stories, hahaha. Now that I am keeping a daily "journal," as opposed to posting only interesting "stories" that happen in cardrooms around the country, you get to hear all of it; the good, the bad and the ugly. Aren't you lucky (NOT). Felicia :) My Poker Journal: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FeliciaLee <<on 21. Nov 2003 11:12 FlopDaNutz wrote: > You are Human!! :) Sorry to hear that. | LOL. I like John. Killer Poker is a good book, IMHO. Jeez, I wish it were bad beats that got me, but it had a lot to do with BAD PLAYING, on my part. I'm glad that Saturday is long behind me (not long enough, lol). on 24. Nov 2003 13:28 LJH wrote: > Dear Felicia Lee, as Jon Vorhaus says,"THERE ARE NO BAD BEATS, ONLY TEMPORARY > SETBACKS". LJH | ||
