| 17 people left, 9 get paid. U got AQ and MP raises to 450 with blinds 75, 150 and both of u have 5k in chips. Now that feeling sets in go allin he'll fold cuz i know the guy has weak holdings. I put him all in and to my amaze ment he calls with KQ of diamonds. Now wish a low flop comes nope a K2234 is the board. Dam, is it better just to call and see the flop? then work from there? i probably heard the dreaded AQ seems like the death hand. any thoughts? | ||

| Terrible play imo. Even a fool can hold AA or KK, plus you have players left to act who may also jump up and sting you with those hands. There's practically nothing he can call with that won't make you a big dog. You got unbelievably lucky for him to show KQ after calling. It almost served you right that your luck didn't hold up. If you were confident he was probably playing something inferior to your AQ then a call or small reraise puts you in position with the best hand. You should be just as confident you can outplay him after the flop. When the King comes you can get away from it and stay to fight another hand. If a Queen comes instead you get all his chips with little risk. If the opponent had more credibility I think I would just pass with the AQ here. Even in a limit ring game I'm reluctant to call a raise with this hand if the raiser is very tight. I may do it, but I'm often sorry when I do. | ||

| Why overbet the pot? A pot sized raise would only put the bet to 1700 or so. If he moves in, he's either crazy or he's got you beaten, and you've found out for 1700, not 5000. You don't have to move in as a reraise when you have plenty of chips to play with. Other than that, not much you can do. You got the money in with much the best of it and he got lucky. Such is tournament poker. Lee | ||

| Why go all in with a good hand when you DO NOT know that you are the best. You should only push all in when you think that have the best of it. I am not really an all in player because I firmly believe that pushing all in should be reserved for limited circumstances and I am unwilling to risk all my chips in situations like these. I agree with the other post. If you think you are ahead, reraise him, but not the whole enchilada. You gain little (450 + blinds) if everyone folds and risk everything. | ||
